Gives me the chills just thinking of this guy doing his thing in Memorial Stadia.
All-name team for sure.

Remembering back to the Barney Cotton days, those types of titles are for primarily for flash. If anything, they typically come with extra behind-the-scenes, administrative duties, not coaching ones.Wondering who, if any, of the coaching staff will report to Joseph? A title like "associate head coach" has to carry some responsibility beyond just playcalling/team-player mgmt I'd think.
From his mouth to the player's ears.

Three thoughts on this. When Solich was associate head coach - it meant Frank took alot of the administrative duties T.O. didn't want to deal with. I assume Mickey will be a similar deal - but more focused on scouting/recruiting/player development.
It may just be conjecture but it's very logical and makes a ton of sense. All of it!Three thoughts on this.
1. TA thinks SF has taken on more than he can chew and has decided to splinter off some of his duties.
2. MJ is a prime candidate for a HC job. This looks great on his resume.
3. TA told MJ that if SF doesn't pull it off this year, he will elevate him to HC.
All conjecture on my part.
Things would have to fall exactly right for MJ to get the job - around how the offense performs, recruiting, etc. - WHILE still losing too many games so that firing Frost is a necessity. If we poop the bed (offense and defense drop off from this season........certainly possible given all the players leaving) it will be a cleaning of the house - and a new head coach that brings in all new coaches (although MJ would be a pretty clear "keeper" for any new HC).Three thoughts on this.

How do you get there from the MJ hire???? He certainly was not successful as a NU QB in my mind. If Frost fails then the last person we should hire would be another x QBIf someone told me a year ago that another former NU quarterback was taking over after Frost, MJ would have never crossed my mind.
If the Frost hire does anything, it proves our next HC needs alot of experience in a P5 environment as a HC. Frost was not ready or experienced for the Big 10.Things would have to fall exactly right for MJ to get the job - around how the offense performs, recruiting, etc. - WHILE still losing too many games so that firing Frost is a necessity. Lincoln Riley had ZERO Hcing experience before taking over at OU. Venables who is taking over at OU has ZERO HCing experience. Dave Aranda until he went to Baylor had ZERO HCing experience. Bob Stoops had ZERO HCing experience when he took over at OU. Your argument pretty much doesn't hold water. If the Frost hire does anything, it proves our next HC needs alot of experience in a P5 environment as a HC. To mimic Paul Harvey's "and now the Rest of the Story" line, the key ingredient that can be found in all of those rookie HC success stories -- including Tom Osborne's -- was the quality of the coaches they surrounded themselves with.Lincoln Riley had ZERO Hcing experience before taking over at OU. They all took over programs on solid footing for the most part also. Frost took over a humpster fire. As the great Jim Harbaugh said about Day after the OSU game... some guys are born on third base and think they hit a triple. Or something like that.To mimic Paul Harvey's "and now the Rest of the Story" line, the key ingredient that can be found in all of those rookie HC success stories -- including Tom Osborne's -- was the quality of the coaches they surrounded themselves with.
