I think Hunchie's humor eludes some folks occasionally.
Malaprops are a real craft. He's a Master.
I'm showing my age here but he reminds of an old timey comedian named Norm Crosby. That guy was hilarious.

Good luck on that one, Dude!Yeah. I'm going to be part of a new "creation" on BHF too....it's called having an optimistic POV on Husker FB.
I call everyone dude, dude!
Just because you are getting old does not mean you have to grow up. You can still be a dude.I know, but aren't you a tad bit, ummm, outside the millennial age bracket to be using terms such as "bro"..."like, you know", "narley", and "dude"?; etc.
Now, BEFORE you retort with you've never used those words in here, I know...it was typed as an example of , well, not acting your age.
AND BEFORE you retort to that sentiment as well....I too act as young as I feel, but just not like I'm trying to impress the teens in the neighborhood. I don't scratch my head when my grandkids say it, but from someone older than me?
Hey!, it's your thing. Mine is calling people sir and ma'am, even if they're younger than me....ma'am.
You see the happy face, just kind of catches me off guard when I see it is all. "Dude" that is.
Thank you!Just because you are getting old does not mean you have to grow up. You can still be a dude.
Now see, we're just the opposite, I've never liked being called ma'am. Being former enlisted, I used to smile and tell whoever called me ma'am, "No, I work for a living".I know, but aren't you a tad bit, ummm, outside the millennial age bracket to be using terms such as "bro"..."like, you know", "narley", and "dude"?; etc.

Started saying dude in the 90's and never stopped. As for gnarly, I had a boss who was 10 years older than I am who could not talk without saying gnarly. Used to drive everyone in the office absolutely nuts. I guess my point is that I don't consider use of these words indicative of one's age.![]()

(in short: he was choosing between Oklahoma and Nebraska and wanted to go to OU, but his mom told him he was playing for Tom Osborne and that was that, he said she didn't even say the other coach's name). Now see, we're just the opposite, I've never liked being called ma'am. I had typed HELL YEAH DOC before realizing I was responding to this on my cell phone. This is the world we live in now. I still think that people would be better off if we didn't have all this crap at our finger tips. We would be better off if we had to learn to get along with people and practice good communication skills where you deal with an actual live person

Well the alternative would be to hike across the frozen tundra of SD and find Doc hunting in a tree stand to let him know you agree with him right to his face so we'll give you a break on this one. Besides Doc don't take kindly to you city slickers interfering with hunting season. You've been warned.I had typed HELL YEAH DOC before realizing I was responding to this on my cell phone.![]()
You are right most people under 30 do not know how to communicate orally. Back when I worked, when I interviewed young people hardly any of them knew how to carry on a conversation. In the business world, most of my customers were 60+. People at that age want to talk to reps face to face or on the phone. Sadly, young people have lost that skill.Even though I don't have Grandkids (yet) hell I gotta ask what a lot of things people my own age mean !
Kate says it comes from me being in the woods and staying away from News, Current Events, things like these that most people in our age bracket sit at their dining room or kitchen table and talk about with their respective families.
Oh right I need to correct myself, Nowdays families sit in various places in the same house and are totally absorbed in the world of social media and instant internet news....staring at various size screens, so involved in their "electronic" world that they will walk right off into an open man hole or right in front of a delivery truck.
This is the world we live in now. I still think that people would be better off if we didn't have all this crap at our finger tips.
We would be better off if we had to learn to get along with people and practice good communication skills where you deal with an actual live person instead of a robot or voice pattern recognition software.
Kate is not big on rules in our house but there are a few and when our kids are home electronic devices of any kind are turned off....not down or put on mute but OFF in our house from 5 a.m. each morning till 1 p.m. every day. Then they are allowed on till 4 p.m. when they are turned off again till after our evening meal is over and the tables cleaned off and the days dishes in the dishwasher and turned on. Then unless there is a family activity planned they are allowed back on till 5 am again. Mostly when we go to bed everybody shuts their stuff off.
You would be super surprised how much this helps families stay bonded and grounded.
Anyway none of this has diddly to do with Husker Football so before we violate the rules any further ( and I ought to know I am one of the worst when it comes to breaking that rule )
God I thought we would hear SOMETHING today but realistically this QB situation and alot of other portal guys could go clear into who knows before it gets finished up.
