Speculation on Dylan’s Future

A kitchen remodel that "should take less than three weeks" combined with a home owner who is "very short on patience right now" feels like we're all watching one of those suspense films where the hero is trying to defuse a nuclear bomb while a ticking clock is counting down the final seconds.
I'll have more patience once we get started. It just really isn't that big of a job though. Remember it's a very small kitchen.

Mama Red has moaned about the size of her kitchen ever since we moved here in the 80's. It's a one-butt kitchen for sure. But she's the one who found the house so it's her fault. Plus she's a gadget accumulator which doesn't help. A remodel here would require a build-on and that ain't happening.

Remodels can be done without a build on. Just takes finding the best work-around. For us it is turning the entryway into an extension of the kitchen adding a pantry and replacing cabinets with ones that go up to the ceiling. Ours will probably still be, like yours, a one-butt kitchen but it will have way better functionality and I won't cuss every time I try to cook or bake in there. Tear out has started. No cabinets and the lathe and plaster is now visible.20260804_104413.jpg

I remember when Casey Thompson was at Nebraska the media tried to goad him a couple of times to maybe take a shot at his former Longhorn team and he finally had to put his foot down.
Thanks for posting this, ATX. I had totally forgotten this request from Thompson. Given our hate for Texas, you KNOW we fans wanted him to 'talk sh*t' about his old team.

In this era of players changing uniforms every season, Casey's class act approach should be the standard for every new player on every new team. Even though things didn't work out for Dylan here, I respected him. But I'll be honest, his recent, "I love nature, there's mountains and trees. There's no cornfields here," burned my butt. It was a cheap shot----and a bit ironic since Eugene, Oregon is about as backwoods rural as it gets.

Guarantee you that some of those cornfields had a direct impact on his NIL $$$'s. Ingrate anyway!

Good excuse for a nice outdoor kitchen , grill , smoker , covered entertainment area

Those cornfields that Dylan is dissing will feed the nation and the world, not so much for those mountains in Oregon and scenery that he gushes about. The only cash crop grown there is probably “weed.”

Does anyone know if Dante Moore is going to schedule getting his wisdom teeth out the day we play Oregon?
I'd like that.

The only way to add space to our kitchen is out, and with our roof line that is a bigger expense than I'm willing to take on at our age. We should just make our butts smaller but that probably won't happen either.

I think we were lucky, in that getting rid of that mammoth butcher block is giving us a much better traffic pattern. Storage space was easy to resolve by taking cupboards up to the ceiling and putting the pantry in what I refer to as the kitchen annex (the little niche coming up the landing. No way was I willing to move foundation, reroof, etc to have a mammoth kitchen and with both of us being in our 70's, we really are long past needing that kind of kitchen. I just needed it to be more functional with a better traffic flow. Both will be accomplished after the reno is completed.
