Speculation on Dylan’s Future

Well if you people would get off your duffs and start posting, we'd be there by now.

I have an excuse. I now have to empty my kitchen, for a second time, after I bake my last batch of chocolate chip cookies in our old kitchen. WOOT WOOT!!!!

Kitchen reno? I predict 6 months.

Shouldn't take more than 3 weeks tops. Cabinets and countertops are in the garage. Just have to tear out everything existing, have plumber and electrician rough in, put up the sheetrock, mud and tape, paint, install flooring and cabinets, have electrician install lighting and plumber reconnect everything. We knocked out walls in Leavenworth and our kitchen renovation was finished in less than 3 weeks.

If you are making structural changes or, god forbid, enlarging through your original exterior, then you are adding a lot of money and time to the project. We have no desire to change to external of the house by enlarging the kitchen. I just need decent lights and more kitchen storage.

I think everyone needs more kitchen storage.

Famous last words. That's what Mrs Fumble and I were saying back in the day when we had the bright idea of having our kitchen redone before moving into our current home.

I'll leave it at that---except to add that we kept getting disgruntled phone calls from our soon-to-be new neighbors wondering when the big eyesore dumpster parked in our driveway was going to get the hell out of the neighborhood?

Well, if it turns into a 5 month process, that dude is in big trouble as there just isn't that much involved. I've been through kitchen reno's before and we did knock out walls then. 2-1/2 weeks start to finish. Especially with cabinets on site no reason or excuse for any lengthy delays. He used up all the delays the last 4 months. Uenth is very short on patience right about now.

A kitchen remodel that "should take less than three weeks" combined with a home owner who is "very short on patience right now" feels like we're all watching one of those suspense films where the hero is trying to defuse a nuclear bomb while a ticking clock is counting down the final seconds.

Heheh, and the Dr. is just the one to write a fictionalized version as it happens. You can translate Uenth's posts to tell us how the nightmare is unfolding.
