Super Official Huskers "How about that volleyball team!" vs Illini Game Week Thread.

I hope (hope isn't a strategy). We have fixed the kicker situation.

I hope we can RUN THE DAMN BALL? I love it when I see teams have 8- to 10-minute drives. Yep, against heavy fronts, yep against Bear fronts, yep against full boxes. We can do it, but lack the common sense to try. Our OC would rather strike out swinging for the fence instead of playing small ball, which usually wins games.

If the box is loaded the receivers don't have to go looking for who to block. Run off tackle and the RB can break to the outside as the WRs seal off the second level.

Maybe just maybe now Our OC knows what this team is capable of and can see by the second half that players on the O just ain't getting it done so he has to dig down deep in his what have we not tried that might work bag of plays and calls one of them? IDK maybe all these new players just need more time together or something. I can't figure it out that's for sure. It just doesn't make sense why we couldn't beat Washington and to lose the way we did sucks!

The OC has to design, develop, and call it.

Agree. This is such a red herring from the coaching staff. If you watch Big Red Wrap Up this week, Jay Moore's play breakdown featured one of Jamal Rule's best runs that was against their bear front and an extra guy in the box. The HC and OC just want to deflect from the fact that they called a stupid game. Nebraska spent 25 years or more running against a loaded box.

Nothing from the last 3 games leaves me to think we'll find a quick fix. D will be good - but.....at some point they are going to have a bad game. Probably vs. tOSU or Iowa. O appears to be dead - combo of problems but the "we don't have an identity" bug is something we have not be able to shake under Rhule (maybe a bit with EJ last season - but the D was so bad it didn't matter). ST overall are a liability (kudos to Archie for his last game). O and ST aren't going to magically turn a corner. We either figure out how to win 17-13 games or we loose the last 4.

Honestly having consistency in the kicking game we are probably 8-0.
