Dude, I'll never get that picture out of my mind now. Thanks ever so much!!!LOL I can look in the mirror for that. I'm not in boxing shape anymore!
This is why it will need to be done by the conferences. If the SEC and the B1G set the ground rules. the others will follow. The big money boys will set the rules. The rest are just waiting to follow whatever the rules turn out to be. Oregon State is not going to outspend LSU. They're waiting for a consistent field of play, knowing they really can't compete with money. Thanks for finding this - and note "they're not employees... yet."
And since this will not be governed nationally for consistency, I wonder what kids will avoid schools with penalties versus those with none? I'd hope most/a;; schools that matter would get in line for this.
I think to slow the rate of transfers etc... the NCAA should rule that any school that convinces a kid to transfer to them must pay the school the kid is leaving. I would set that payment at a high rate to help reduce how often the kid ends up transferring in his career. So, the kid gets the money he wants. The receiving school gets the player they want. The original school is not getting screwed out of time and effort into the kid and all the things that go with the portal transitions. They would be able to take the money they would have paid the kid and some extra money from his next school to go out and acquire a new player. They can also choose to save it for next years high school kids or spend on current roster.
Good talk, but did he really say anything that we didnt already know? I dont think anyone thinks this is sustainable. Even with Mark Cubans money, it will eventually run out. Thats why players are grabbing every penny they can right now because even they know that eventually it will go away
