Greg Bell leaves the team

Curious that all of our defections have been of offense, yet the offense still is doing the job (500 yards in back-to-back games)--maybe we should have some guys on the defensive side have a tantrum and quit--possibly we could hold someone under 40 :ashamed0001:

GBR

BTW--just found this picture of Greg Bell

Bell is a reflection of our society which is me, me, me. The handouts that so many people receive from the government gives them no reason to have to do something to survive. Thousands of women rising up against a man to be a judge because he is a man is a perfect example of the me, me, me. attitude that exists.
Holy smokes. I have a hunch we vote differently. Or, better, maybe you don’t vote. Ai yi yi. #mememetoo

A good start would be to talk to Tom Osborne. He was very good at keeping players. Communication is the key. You tell them they have lost the start, why you made you decision and what they need to do to regain the start. Yes, you might have to take time from your busy schedule to massage his ego or talk with his parents. It goes with coaching. Frost is making top 10 coach money. It is time he started acting like a top 10 coach. But you can keep making excuses for him.
You said I sunshine pump without stating what I've said to sunshine pump...And now you say I'm making excuses. Again, state the excuses I've made for Frost. I can't tell if you are serious , trolling, or just a 12 year old kid...but the "lick his balls" comment in another post of yours seems a bit much....Does your dad know you log into his bughuskerfan account?

NearBigRed, I make it habit to vote and all I posted is fact, too bad you can’t see that.
I certainly believe you have a right to express your opinion, Ga, but when you have the time, please point out the facts you wrote as they remain invisible to me. And that’s a fact.

I know for a fact that Frost and the appropriate coaches did have direct contact with the players who have left.

It sounds like the only thing you would accept is a 100% retention rate.

Not possible.

Alvarez lost 50 players his first year. Frost: two.

LOL, OMG! You gotta be kidding 50??? Now that's a rough SOB. Alvarez' most used line his first year... "Get the FU*K out of here, You Pu**y".

This is sad. Another top talent leaving the team. It looks to me as if they have adopted a pro team attitude at NU. Competition determines everything and walk if you don't like it. Where is the support system. If this guy was moping around for a week or so, teammates and coaches should have reminded him that he is a key member of this team and helped him work his way through it. This is what happens when the players start thinking they are just a number.

I wonder what the odds are that the state of California even breeds team players.

I agree with this and yet I have to be reasonable. We sometimes forget that Osborne had transfers too. But back in those days 2nd and 3rd stringers still got playing time early in the 2nd half and they got National Championship rings. We were on TV more than almost any other team except Notre Dame. Things have changed so much including the 4 game rule. A year ago Lindsey and Bell would have still been here without that rule.

Generally speaking in these types of forums is that if someone posts something they refer to as a fact and you disagree........you take it upon yourself to prove he is wrong. Using logical facts as your defense of course.

... probably causing discontent.

Myself, players that are truly not happy should move on, what sense is it to keep them around? If a player thinks there is a better opportunity elsewhere, they will obsess and not have their best effort.

Hopefully these young men have good advice, they are grown ups now and are free to make their own mistakes...

No that is not my take at all. This all started because I said I was not happy that good players were leaving the program. Some sunshine pumper asked me how to keep players and I told him. No one here knows what occurred that drove these kids to leave. The fact is that two very talented kids are gone. Both were playing, one had several starts. Now they are gone. How can that be good?
They weren't good and they weren't very talented. They were highly rated players that don't have what it takes to play big boy ball. Happens all the time. The end.

1. They weren't buying into the program.
2. They were more concerned about getting their own run rather than the betterment of the team.
3. Based upon their output at Nebraska (the only output that matters), I don't think we can call them "very talented".
