Greg Bell leaves the team

Bell is a reflection of our society which is me, me, me. The handouts that so many people receive from the government gives them no reason to have to do something to survive. Thousands of women rising up against a man to be a judge because he is a man is a perfect example of the me, me, me. attitude that exists.

I dont think that's what the argument was about

This news was really a shocker but when it comes to recruiting JUCOs, you always need to be aware that they tend to be 'big hits or big misses' deals. For many of these junior college kids, transferring to a big time program is like being a new freshman in every way, shape, and form. Some can deal with it some can't.

You want guys like Bell who believe they're the best. But as DrThunder said earlier in this thread, if he thought he deserved to start this week, he was delusional.

When it comes to mental toughness, Devine Ozigbo showed a boatload of it at the start of fall camp when the senior found himself behind a JUCO transfer and a new freshman. Instead of quitting he manned up and took full advantage of his limited opportunities and now he's starting.

Too bad Bell will never understand that.

He'll probably go FCS? He's got film and it's not that impressive then he quits …. there's that

You think I care if you block me? However, tell me how this team is going to get over the hump if the most talented players on the team keep walking? It looks to me like there is a communications problem. Unlike you, I'll save my sunshine pumping until I see some results.
That was my motto about the last staff. They said the right things, but I wanted to wait until I saw some proof. Every now and then I thought I saw the sun come out, only to see it cloud over soon after.

I've jumped on this band wagon early. I might end up eating crow, but I don't think so. There's a fire here I like......and its not just Coach Frost. Too many things for me not to get excited about.

I admit I thought we would be 3-2 now...maybe 4-1, but the record hasn't dimmed my enthusiasm. I will sunshine pump until I've been proven wrong. BUT I will call out things I would like to see improved, and things I would like to see addressed. The difference from the past is that I really, really think they will be.

"It looks like we are the most undisciplined team in the country" ….
"It looks like this team is fine with losing".... HCSF

These tranfers better understand the rules of what they are doing. red shirts will need to lose a season.

A lot of them have no clue thay still have to sit out next year if they did not graduate.

Not sure if Gebbia has to sit out. Bell I bet goes the FCS route after he realizes he can not play at the FBS level next year. Lindsey will ha e ti sit out next season.

The 4 year stuff is good 4 freshman, not transferring. I bet we see fewer 4 game transfers next year in the national level.

You really think Bell is one of our most talented players? Based on what? His JUCO performance? He's not even one of our top three most talented running backs. Dude couldn't hold his spot on a winless team. If anything, it's an indictment of the chances you take bringing in JUCO players. Some are cancers. Bell is exhibit A.

This is sad. Another top talent leaving the team. It looks to me as if they have adopted a pro team attitude at NU. Competition determines everything and walk if you don't like it. Where is the support system. If this guy was moping around for a week or so, teammates and coaches should have reminded him that he is a key member of this team and helped him work his way through it. This is what happens when the players start thinking they are just a number.
No, this is what happens when players aren't willing to work for their spot on the field. Just like Lindsey, he may have been highly regarded, but his skills on the field did not reflect the hype.

Since the most talented players haven't left, the rest of your point is irrelevant.

Gebia is sitting out this year. So he can play next year.

I remember a time when a pretty good QB name Eric Crouch came close to leaving NU. At that time many fans like many on this board said let him go who needs a quitter. Fortunately the coaches were a little more tolerant. They massaged his ego a little and he stuck.

Part of being a competitive player is to have a lot of confidence in yourself. Many of them also have huge egos. You don't get to be a top 50 recruit or the number one JC player without a lot of talent. I agree that these players had yet to raise eyebrows at NU. However, anyone who is paying attentions will notice that few players on this team are.

We should all remember that these kids are playing in a new offense. They are not sure of their assignments, they don't know what to expect from their teammates, the line is not great, they have not established a link with the QB. It is not hard to see where a kid might feel lost.

While it is easy to sit on your couch and say these guys just need to shut up and suck it up, you need to remember the program needs players with this type of talent. Both of these players have the potential to be game changers and NU has been woefully short of game changers lately. I am sad to see them leave.
