B1G about to have a "surprise" expansion.

I think he was reffering to the uniforms

Definitely mentioned the uniforms, but also said university property. And given this country's insidious past concerning ownership of others, just made me do a double take. Not trying to start anything political (cause that'd be against board rules) but I do think how we talk about this is important because to reduce people to property status is pretty heinous (even though I am 99.9% sure it wasn't meant in that context).

You're overthinking this. I was 100% referring to the uniforms.

Um…..not sure you got that right

In this country, with our collective sorid past history, I'm not sure referring to any person as "property" (even if that wasn't the intent) is the best look. Especially when those in question are mostly Black.

I think the only person that would interpret the original statement as Husker99 did is somebody looking for it. "Property" was clearly referring to the uniform. Shame on you for insinuating otherwise.

Just be glad, due to board rules, I can't say to you what I am truly thinking. Suffice it to say, I will NOT be lectured about shameful opinions, and certainly not from the likes of you.

When it comes to public universities like UCLA, Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska, trust me, EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL!!! :)

Frankly, I was shocked that we didn't hear a big bruhaha inside Oklahoma after OU left Okie State in the dust when it announced it was bolting to the SEC. I'm guessing the only reason Texas wasn't hit hard by lawmakers in that State was because A&M had successfully bolted away years earlier. For years, we'd been told taking Texas meant it was a "packaged deal."

And if Nebraska had two major universities in the State and both were in the same conference -- for the sake of this discussion, let's say it was UNL and UNO and the conference was the Big XII -- do you really think there wouldn't have been an uproar in Omaha when Nebraska announced it was joining the Big Ten?

Duke and Northwestern have been playing a series together. Duke clearly would be weak in football, and thats not a bad trait. They also may be done as a powerhouse when it comes to basketball. But they still have instant brand recognition from coast to coast. They also get the B1G a foothold in North Carolina. The state is the largest state by population that doesn’t contain a Big Ten or SEC team. North Carolina would be a better target. NC State is more like an SEC than the others. But these latter two appear joined at the hip by their state legislature, similar to Texas and Texas A&M. Duke has no such strings.

Virginia is 2nd largest state by population. Virginia Tech is the bigger draw. Virginia is made for the SEC, whereas VTech is probably well suited for B1G sports.

Georgia Tech was literally floated at same time Nebraska joined. The Huskers made the cut first. The Yellow Jackets left the SEC in 1964, and may have no inclination to return.

If the B1G expands again, and Notre Dame isn't in the mix, I look at these three states.

So the Big12 officially says that they will NOT be partnering with the PAC which I found mildly surprising but what's the scoop with Notre Dame? I'm not hearing anything on the innerwebz about which conference they might be interested in, or are they still gonna just stay plain old independent Domers?

Enquiring minds want to know.
