The enigma that is Scott Frost

OK I am not about to jump on Frosty..... Consider the circumstances he was faced with when he took the job (seriously things were 210% worse than they are now and worse than any of us old guys would tell the fans) and I am not gonna start hollerin for Martinez to get pulled...
Though I have seen Coach Osborne yank a guy who was having trouble or struggling for a series or 2 untill our starter got his hash all settled then 99% of the time he went back in the game and played lights out.
Frosty knows whats at stake here....he could loose part of the LOCKER ROOM real easy if he don't get his stuff straight but....on the same hand Martinez has got to decide to say "WTF" go out and play for the fun of playing....because the team needs to rally and play the last 3 games like it is the end of the season each game.....look bottom line unless a real come to Jesus Moment happens between now and the last 3 games....the way we have been playing there is no sure things.....we very easily could tank and finish out 0-3 even with a trip to the Terps between Wisconsin and Iowa.....so this will be the last game EVER for a lot of graduating Sr.s and it always left a bad taste in my mouth when we couldnt send the guys who deserve it.....out on a winning note.....bowl game be damned.....right now all I care about is seeing who has "IT".....and who is going swimmin.....Frosty is still in my mind the right guy for the job.....really he is the only guy I can think of who can get it done but he has to self reflect this week as well......he has gotta decide who he is deep down inside.....A Duck.....or A Cornhusker .....and all that implies.....and Adrian has to just forget about all tbe outside Bovine Fecal Matter piled on him before the season even started and just play like.....
Well like Adrian.

When asked about the I formation Frost said that in order for it to work you have to have answers and have to commit to it. He said you could still win using the Osborne O Hard to recruit to now says cause everybody wants to be in high power passing offense.
That there tells me he has all the answers using his offense. Probably frustrated he doesn't have the personnel to execute it.
Personally I think our guys are performing at the peak of their abilities and just aren't very good. That would have to be very frustrating for the coaching staff. As time goes by maybe we'll find out what the hell is really going on.. usually do.

Vedral ran the team well until he was hurt and the team responded. No such luck at Purdue last weekend plenty of confusion

It isn’t enough to have the players, you have to have players that have “want to” and don’t fold at the first “smack in the mouth” moment.

That is what I've been wishing would happen. I saw TO do it very successfully and wish SF would try it and see what happens!

the trouble we re have looks simple enough to me, AM2 does not understand the offense or the defense thrown at him, Vedral looks like he may. He sure as hell knows the offense maybe the D Do the huskers have time to waste facing a 6 game losing streak too get answers.

Look when its obvious to 99.9999% of Huskerland that Frosty needed to go with a 2 tight, Power "I" with Martinez under center and Mills at FB with Robinson at I back and power the dang ball righf down their throats and get the 6 instead of the cutesy shovel pass at the goal line then proceed to go backwards from there and wind up having to take 3......man somebody is just being pig headed dang stubborn....as Frosty has a reputation amongst all us old guys for doing....somebody needs to understand we aint Oregon Ducks.....nor UCF ......we are Cornhuskers.....and we run right at you and dare you to stop us.....thing is Frost knows this better than anyone so the only answer has got to be "he is gonna do it his way no matter what might be best"......and that aint no way to hold your teams best interest at heart.
Hell 90% of O linemen who are worth their salt LIVE FOR RUN BLOCKING CAUSE THEY CAN ATTACK.....not back up and try and keep the QB on his feet instead of on his butt pass protecting.....if your struggling with pass protection the rule is you hammer the Defense and run their butts ragged trying to keep your over 6 foot tall 300 lb linemen from laying on or shoving them around.....that physical treatment wears a smaller lighter Defense down and perdy soon they aint comin at you near as fast or hard.....sure makes protecting a passer a whole lot easier.....ask Warren Sapp.....ask Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and his Buddy Ray "ima bust a cap in yo asset" Lewis.....them guys can testify just how bad it feels......

Well spoken Doc, as a member of the 99999.9 thats what I wouil dhave done 4 times.

The abject stubbornness is what p*sses me off so badly.
Your not the only one buddy.....believe me...A former Great Husker Running Back I had the honor to play with told me.....and I quote "dang what da f@#& is up with dat" ....I don't have his permission to post his name with his quote but you can more than likely figure it out....oh yeah he is Omaha born and raised and went on to play many seasons in the NFL so that rules out a lot of guys right there. He told me when he see's us line up and we can't move the ball 5 yards inside the 5 yard line it makes him wanna hurl and throw stuff at the TV...really it is a sad state of things when the Cornhuskers can not run the ball....everything and I MEAN EVERYTHING KEYS ON YOUR ABILITY TO RUN THE FOOTBALL....Look if you cant gain 3 yards by running the ball none of the RPO stuff works, the screen game don't work and your short yardage to intermediate passing game is rendered useless cause the Defense is laying its ears back and coming after your QB every snap....when the opposing teams in the Conference don't fear your ability to run the football.....your sunk...and what burns me up is Frost can run and scheme those plays we ran in his sleep.....why in the heck aint he doing what HE KNOWS WILL WORK THEN....???? We have young O linemen who could be fantastic at running a up dated version of what we did in the 90's and I know for a fact Coach Osborne still has his Book he would draw up plays in..and its chock full of "stuff" no one has seen or dreampt of still....so why then are we not taking advantage of Coach Osbornes knowledge.....???? Coach will never butt in unless he is asked.....and by God Frost had better get to askin real quick like is all I gotta add.

Ok we are on the page Doc. For whats it worth, I would have blitzed Purdue on every snap when that 3 deep guy came in. Yeah they might get lucky and beat us but Im betting we wold have had more points at the end of the game.

I guess my question is why would HCSF take this attitude with the program. Look I understand doing things my way but he is only the HC not the AD or President. His success is based upon wins and losses, not stalling a certain offensive scheme.

Of the 12 power 5 coaches hired in 2018 Oregon's Mario Cristobal. Florida's Dan Mullen and Oregon State Jonathan Smith have been the best hires; Arkansas Chad Morris, FSU's Willie Taggart and HCSF have been the worst based on win differential.

HCSF will get us where we need to go if he leaves his ego out. We once had a coach who said we are going to run my system at all costs and it did not work out so well. You have to play who you got.

I'm like you and Doc Holiday. Pounding the Rock down a team's throat brings a smile to my face.

But to be fair to Scott, the team we've got now hasn't exactly set the world on fire running the ball against anybody. I've tried to forget these games as quickly as possible but, unfortunately, I seem to recall an awfully lot of second downs and nines.

The Frost System that worked at Oregon and UCF includes running the ball. But it won't work for Nebraska in the B1G if we can't RUN THE BALL down a defense's throat in the Red Zone.

Seen that against S Alabama and I believed at the start of the season that if we can't get a yard when we want we'll never get one when we need. Why can't they get a yard? Is it numbers or what? S&C?

Right, people scream about the coaches contradicting their "no fear of failure" mantra but also want them to call games uber-conservative. To the team's credit, Martinez was able to plow his way with Mills lead-blocking later on, but I agree that predicting what plays the OL will be on the same page is not easy.

Frost wants a big play offense. He is not particularly interested in 4 yds at time and up the gut off tackle stuff. Old style and certainly not as entertaining as throwing 40 yds pass plays, but it dos win ball games, good god, look at Wisc and Iowa and now Minnesota. Give me an I formation and lets put some W s up consistently. I hate to see A mart 5 yds off theball when all we need is one lousy yard. In the case against the Purdue call or the CU overtime, doing anything but up the gut lost yards.

Those passes to edge are equally frustrating because the defenses have figured them out too.

Maybe in 5 years he will have the personnel to make them work right now I just want him to work with the players that we have, its called coaching.
