The enigma that is Scott Frost

I would approve of no political posts, and add to that no references to romancing farm animals. I mean WTF? How the h$ll do farm animals get brought into Husker football?? I mean, I know dating can be challenging, but damn people, just go to the local watering hole and drink heavily until all the humans look good..... :D
In that particular sequence..."romancing farm animals" just might be the funniest three words I have ever read in my life.

Going to make all that much sweeter when we are winning to see you eat your words
I for one have HCSF Back as far as I'm concerned he can take all the time he needs to get us back the right way.
he has a 7 year contract so he gets all the time he needs. How did you surmise that what I wrote indicated I wanted Frost fired? Fuzzy logic?

Not sure you can use "the local hole: and "farm animals" in the same post.

I agree that we should NOT be talking about making any changes. We haven't even seen most of Frost's best recruiting class on the field yet. Let's see what the coaches can do with players who they hand picked, who should be a perfect fit for what they want to do.
But let's not claim that those who are upset are pissed because Nebraska isn't "beating conference opponents by 50 points". That just isn't even close to the reason. The Huskers have been playing piss poor Defense, and can't stop anything right now. Minnesota steam rolls us with the run, then Indiana gashes us repeatedly with the pass. Chins can't figure out how to come up with a way to get his LBs to execute run fits vs the good running teams, can't get enough QB pressure, or help his secondary by disguising some coverages. We cover Whop Philyor with Mo Barry for f$cks sake. Our 3rd down Defense is horrid. All of this can't be attributed to lack of talent. Much of it is coaching. That's the stuff fans are pissed about. Chris Schmidt and Mike Schuchart (pro golfer & coach) on Hail Varsity Radio today made the comment that the coaches are still learning, and Mike made the point that they have been outcoached in almost every game this year, and many agree with him. The coaches can't figure out how to do successful half time adjustments, and lose the 3rd quarter every game. That's what fans are pissed about. It's not because we aren't winning by 50 points, it's because they didn't expect the coaches to be screwing up so much as they figure things out...I'm behind the coaches 100%, and I'm willing to suffer through some growing pains by players and coaches, but the coaches shouldn't be surprised when they catch some flack when they sh!t the bed. If it takes 5-7 years to rebuild, so be it, and I'm willing to wait, but damn, hopefully the coaches learn from their mistakes quickly so it doesn't have to be more painful than necessary....

I don't want people thinking the coaches can't be criticized, because yes they absolutely can.

However, I'm having a hard time believing the "they were out-coaches" line. Were they out-coached or were the players not doing what they're supposed to?

I have seen Nebraska's DBs all season not turning back to look for the football and I know DB Coach Travis Fisher teaches them to do that. In presser after presser we hear Coach Frost saying guys have their eyes in tbe wrong places, bad technique, doing a "just okay" type of job, no pass rush, etc...

I find it very hard to believe that a coaching staff who took UCF to an undefeated season is getting "out-coached." Maybe they are, but I'm guessing it has more to do with minimal talent/not a lot of septh and guys reverting back to old/bad habits than coaching.

14rec -178yds

Ramsey had 351 passing

Our 3rd down Defense is horrid. All of this can't be attributed to lack of talent. Much of it is coaching. 3 rd down 185 yds vs Indy.

This is a recipe for disaster if Rondal Moore from Purdue is healthy. I remember another Plummer that ate our lunch in ASU. Jeff Brohm is a good offensive coach and the Purdue game is going to be tough on our D. Am I concerned, yes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying our coaches are morons. But, look at how much experience they have, compared to the coaching staffs they have faced this year. I think there is plenty of evidence that the UCF rebuild is different from ours, and the AAC is a different League. The staff simply hasn't experienced some of what they have seen this year, and they have made a few comments to indicate that. Here is a question: Why in the Colorado game, did we start fast and go up 17-0, only to be completely stymied after halftime? I think it's because, given a lot of time, our coaches can come up with a good game plan on how to attack our opponents. The CU coaches changed their Offensive and Defensive approach at halftime, and our coaches didn't adequately adjust and the advantage shifted to our opponent. This same scenario has played out almost every game. Go look at each game and the contrast between the 1st quarter and 3rd. Why the poor results of every 3rd quarter? Because they are still learning how to do in-game adjustments. I think they will get there, but right now they are getting schooled a little by some experienced coaching staffs in the Big10, several of who have NFL experience. Like Charlie McBride mentioned on the radio, there are ways to scheme a little better to create pressure and disguise coverages to mask your weaknesses, and he isn't seeing it from the Nebraska staff yet. And, he also mentioned that you have to already be thinking two steps ahead in the chess match, and IMO, our coaches just aren't there yet. Not bringing aggressive pressure on the QB and asking Mo Barry to cover Whop Philyor is one example of poor strategy that sets us up to fail. Several analysts/former players are commenting on how that is a faulty plan, and that we should have used a Nickel or Dime Defense for Indiana, especially since they are not a good rushing team.
Now, there is no question that the poor technique and sloppy execution is making the coaches job harder, but some of the teams beating us play just as sloppy as we do at times, and they can find ways to still score and get Defensive stops vs us..
Again, I am NOT suggesting any coaching changes be made, because I think we need to see them coach their guys to get a true feel for their chops. But, I had hoped they would be a little better at in-game adjustments when they arrived in 2018. I like the dedication that our coaches have to Nebraska, and I really do think they are improving as they learn how to match wits with and scheme against the Big10. I think we will start to see better in game adjustments from them next season, after having seen a lot of Big10 opponents.

The Huskers are their own worse enemy. On every clean drive we scored. Only stupid penalties an turnovers stopped us.
There are all kind of "suggestions" out there concerning our D. Some are saying go to 4-3 more nickel dime on and on. It is what it is. Just one next level talent at each level and we would be pretty good.

Very true. The Offensive performance in the Indiana game was very good in a lot of categories. The completion percentage was a record, I think. We damaged our own chances more than Indiana did. The turnover and handful of penalties were absolute killers. Even so, 31 points should probably allow you to win quite a few games, but the Defense is just killing us right now. We can't expect to win playing Defense like we have been. Not many ILBs in the Big10 can cover Whop Philyor all the way across the field. More talent will obviously help, but we need our coaches to use the guys we have now to their fullest potential, and that's really the point of my long winded post earlier.......

i got names serial numbers and of everyone you fubered for 20 years left it on your desk next to the BP fire excuse sorry boss
Not a political statement . Tom Osborne seen what was going on and tried to correct it.
BP maybe wasn't the real answer but he did make Nebraska respectable again.
What SE and Regent prez did was not good for this program. SF is not a POC NFL one trick
pony. Ive waited near 25 years for this ...............calling names is not what I do.
Enigma rather than ........wait for it wait for it now I will get it is all I see
TO is a man's name at Nebraska.................not a thing he did or wanted to ever happen.
One thing that needs to go away now for good.........turnovers .....as well as ST mistakes. 2 to 3 more wins this season will tell you why. T/O margin and do your job is all that we lose by not a staple SF should let happen.

.....is not SF EVER

What's the enigma? Frost seems completely lost. His team sucks. He has no clue how to fix it. He keeps giving the same press conference over and over. He may as well be Mike Riley at this point.
