Rhule's coaching staff

Give the coach a chance. I am wait and see with this hire because as others have said, burned in the past. However, I will give him the benefit to build his staff and see how they perform when working together.

Worst part of the team and we retain the coach. Obviously Rhule knows something we don’t but the lack of effort from these guys the last year is 100% on coaching.

Have you called Matt Rhule's office to get the explanation you feel you need? What about AD Trev Alberts? I bring up Trev because you can tattle on Matt to him about your displeasure. Also, If you go to Huskers.com, under the football program, coaches, I believe you will see Matt's email, why don't you give that a try. Let us all know the explanation you get from the head football coach of Nebraska football. Let him know how your confidence in him will drop if he doesn't explain to you his hiring process and decision making. And then......give him all your "expert" opinions on the matter.

You embarrass yourself by emotion posting.
Where did I say he has to speak to me personally?

I am not emotion posting AT ALL, though it does look like you are with your snide remarks. It's pure logic. Tell me where the logic fails? Do you think if I called Matt Rhule's office that he would give me an explanation? Really? Or Trev Alberts? That is just stupid to suggest. Or the whole email thing. Your suggestions are just plain stupid. If he wants to keep the fan base, he HAS to explain what he is doing when they look questionable. The #1 job he (as all leaders do) has to do is COMMUNICATE. If we have some good journalists they will ask those questions that you suggest "I" make. Those journalists do read message boards.

Where was the improvement in the OLine as the year went by?

I read somewhere, (sorry, no link) that when SF and MR talked, Rhule asked about the current staff and Frost recommended Raiola—. either Raiola is better than we thought or this was SF’s Pelini moment

I'm a bit confused here. Why would The Rhuler consult Frost about his staff? Seems to me that's like the Captain of the Titanic being asked for advice on how to avoid icebergs.

Interesting tidbit there, RSR. Thanks for sharing it.

Truthfully, I can't look back and complain about any of Frost's hires AFTER he was forced to can a few of his originals.

It would be interesting to have seen 'what might have been' if SF had started at Nebraska with an open-mind about bringing in the best assistants for Nebraska versus the best he could attract to a winless UCF program.

Whipple was a bad fit and Raoila had no experience--but Busch was a great hire--If SF had hired him to coach the STs 5 years ago, Sf's record would look very different--and our recruiting in the 500 mile radius would have been much better

I'm not disputing this, RSR, but I just mentioned this to a knowledgeable friend who'd called me up and he said Raiola and Frost had a bit of a falling out during fall camp. Whatever happened between them obviously didn't last very long because Frost didn't last long and it certainly doesn't mean he wouldn't still recommend him if he and Rhule did talk. But like your news, this was the first time I'd heard about a riff between Frosty & Raiola.

BTW, Rhule might be thinking that keeping a Raiola on the staff might help him in more ways than one. :)

Anyhoo, this is just gossip so take it for whatever you think its worth.

MR was previously an OL coach. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt about keeping DR. We don’t know the specifics of his conversation with SF, but perhaps he asked questions like “which position coach really connected with their players?” , “who was the first assistant in and the last one out each day?”, and/or “who wasn’t having an affair with another coach’s wife?”

One thing I have been noticing with Rhule's offensive staff, all have coaching experience with multiple position groups. That position group more often than not was OL. Raiola will have a lot of guys on staff that know the expectations and know what it takes to get the line the way Rhule wants it. And as (I think it was) RSR pointed out, Rhule picked Frost, Trev and TO's minds on the staff that was here before bringing in anyone. The 3 coaches mentioned to be retained where Busch, Joseph and Raiola. Busch was gone either way, Joseph was going to stay until he had his issue. It's not a surprise that Raiola is staying, he will have a lot of mentors and he is well respected in the coaching world. And if he can flip a 5* legacy "home", even more reason to keep him. One thing I know, Rhule believes in winning the trenches, that's his focus. If he believes Raiola can get him that, I'll trust him based solely on the success' he's had at his college stops.
