Hi everyone, Kate here We're getting ready to fly home, DOC is filling up the Brush Jumper for the hop home while I post this from sitting in the plane waiting, anyway we were sitting in traffic on the way out here talking and we decided we should throw this out there right now.

We all want at this point to just win again, be relevant, not scoffed at for our old fashioned ways and told over and over this isn't the 90's....like we don't know that.
Really all we have ever wanted is a tough nosed ball control team that plays great team defense.....sure we need to run the ball but we're not so dumb as to think you can just run the ball all the time.

We know for fact Urban Meyer was contacted about the job and it's obvious he wants it....so now we will see where it goes from here.

It's time we get back to who we are and we both believe Meyer understands that and can do what needs done. He is looking for a Destination not another stepping stone.
Even if he comes here and is gone in 10 years chances are he will leave behind a great staff with which to carry on with.

We're thinking the decision may have been made already because if you want a guy like Meyer you gotta pull the trigger quickly before someone else does.

Kate & DOC

Ten years? He's never coached anywhere more than 7 and he is 58 years old. Huskers would be lucky to get him for 5, but I'll take it.

I think Meyer would be a good pick at this point. For one thing, he can recruit as well as coach and it seems like right now Nebraska is not in great shape overall in talent. I saw a blog where they were talking about Nebraska losing 40 players in the transfer portal since Frost took the job. And of those 40 players only 15 are or have played at Power Five schools. It is now about getting the best available talent, developing them and KEEPING them. I don't know what it was about Frost and his staff, but for a team to lose 40 players through the transfer portal (and some damn good talent), there was something behind the scenes that we just weren't allowed to see. The Husker defense blows chunks and I think that is a reflection of talent more than coaching, but I'm no expert.

It would be hard to sell Urban to the fan base, especially the crowd convinced we do things differently at Nebraska.

Would Trev really hire Urban given all his baggage? Can he afford to given the character qualities he has said he's looking for in the next head coach?

Urban is definitely a winner. Do we sell our souls to win some football games?

I thought it was strange that he picked Nebraska to win at the end of the pregame show. He's forgotten a lot more about football than I will ever know, but even I knew this was going to be a long and disgusting day. Did he do that for PR purposes to make himself more attractive to the fan base?

He's a HOF coach, but if he gets the job we'll all be checking our news feeds each morning to see if there's some kind of scandal about to break loose. I admire his accomplishments, but I don't really trust him.

There is a part of me that is SO SICK of losing that I'd be willing to hand him the keys for a while...but he's more of a bandaid than a long-term solution.

I hope it's not true.
A big selling point for him is our local media won't report any shenanigans.

If Meyer was a 50/50 coach we wouldn't know or remember any discretion. You'd think he was a serial killer.
Probably the only thing out of the water is some chocolate wiggling her way back into him, seven seconds.

There were fans on TV this morning at the Fox stand chanting We Want Urban.

I don't understand all this "sell your soul to the devil" BS surrounding Meyer. A lot of his players were in trouble with the law when he was coaching Florida. If you compared the police blotters in Lincoln from 1994-1997 with his time in Gainesville I doubt you would see that much difference. Sure, he ignored the issue when one of his assistants was taking his day out on his wife at Ohio St but once again, the Huskers have had their share of indiscretions with some of their assistants also.

He's one hell of a coach with a proven track record. My bigger concern with hiring him is if things don't turn around quickly he may bail because he tends to get burned out. You know, he'll have some health concerns that force him to quit so he can spend more time with his family.

There are three people that can come in here and fix this program….only one is available, Urban Meyer. The other two, one coaches at Alabama and the other is Jesus. All others are a gamble just like SF was!

I said this a week ago and I'll say it again today: What great coach HASN'T had bad things said about him? Unfortunately perception isn't always reality. Most casual fans who remember Tom Osborne would probably tell you he was a 'Win at All Costs" kind-of-coach.

Does Urban Meyer have some baggage? Yeah, but that means he has MORE REASONS than Nebraska has to rehabilitate his image. If Urban has shown as interest in Nebraska, we'd be IDIOTS if we didn't at least seriously consider it. Win/loss records like Osborne, Devaney, Saban --- and yes, Urban Meyer --- don't happen by accident.

As I mentioned last weekend, fans who believe Nebraska should steer clear because we've always operated as a pillar of virtue haven't been paying attenion or have chosen to ignore stuff over the years.

Whoever the new coach is, he’ll have a huge job ahead of him. Maybe even an insurmountable job. It’s talent, it’s coaching, it’s effort. Even Sam McKewon commented on players quiting on plays during his recap. Not too difficult to see the issues. Is a new coach going to run some players to instill the right culture? Probably going to take that to turn this thing around.

I know NU isn't a pillar of virtue. But the cover-up of his assistant coach's treatment of his wife and the Baby Poop in the bar. Yeah, I'll be real proud to have him as our coach.
