Come on now. He's improved, but I'm not ready to call him a top college QB.This season’s NCAA statistics say otherwise.
Put Dylan in an Ohio State uniform and he’d be the leading Heisman Trophy candidate right now.Come on now. He's improved, but I'm not ready to call him a top college QB.

We’re seeing first hand what he gave up to be a Husker. I’m hoping for his and all of our sakes, it turns out to be a good decision.
A few years back I ran into some Longhorn fans (bigots) from Austin. They claimed Manning would not only win the Heisman but be the number 1 draft pick in the NFL. Manning was probably a good QB, great remains to be seen. He is a creation of the media as far as I can see. The kid at OSU is a creation of the media. That USC kid IS good and if our kid had the the same players, we would be thinking playoffs for sure.d ESPN=media...Come on now. He's improved, but I'm not ready to call him a top college QB.
I think we can say he's in the upper 3rd of the B10 at this point.
But check back with me if the Huskers manage to win another 5 games.

Texas still has a really good defense. But if your QB can't convert 3rd downs - and that is Manning right now - you are going to put your defense in bad spots. I think Texas has some other issues on offense - not sure it is talent - probably more execution. Don't be surprised if Texas beats OU this weekend. OU can pressure the QB pretty good - which doesn't bode well for Manning - but never say never in the Red River Rivalry.Probably true, but not the way the world works. Sayin plays for the #1 team in the country with the best defense in the country. With the best defensive player in the country. Is it fair that he gets the benefit of being surrounded by that amount of talent? No, but that's the way things go. OSU pays big time for that talent and for the most part, they're getting what they're paying for.
It also helps when you keep putting all-star receivers in the NFL each year. Guys with big dreams look to OSU and think, if I go there I'm going to be a star. And mostly they are correct.
Until the Huskers can start putting multiple players in the early rounds in the NFL, they will be able to compete on a game by game basis, but probably not good enough for a championship season and playoff run. There's just too much damn talent to compete with.
As for Manning and Texas, truly puzzling how that has gone wrong because they were a really good team last year.
Just saying the media drives the hype machine and like sheep people follow their lead.Probably true, but not the way the world works. That's pretty much college football in a nutshell.Just saying the media drives the hype machine and like sheep people follow their lead.
And the fans are dopes for believing themThat's pretty much college football in a nutshell.
Other than the team you cheer for and maybe your biggest rival or two, how much does anyone know about the rest of the country?
We were told Texas would be great this year and I believed it. They were really good last year and spend a ton of money on NIL.
Manning seemed like a suitable replacement for Ewers because he played well in relief. And now they've lost two games. Go figure.
The media hypes the teams and leagues that make them money. They'd be dumb not to.
Not sure fans have any other option. Not that I'm aware of, at least. And the fans are dopes for believing them
Maybe you should go back in time when the Rattler, xfered from Az to OU to SC....and listen to the various talking head bloviate about that guy. He now QB s for the worst team in the NFL..Not sure fans have any other option. Not that I'm aware of, at least.
We could visit every other teams fan forums, which is a ridiculously biased medium.
We could watch game film of the previous year's games, knowing that 30% plus of the players are no longer there, or more.
Major sports media is the only thing that has the time and resources to cover spring, summer and fall camp and give their opinion.
Ultimately, does any of it matter? Come November ever college football fan knows the truth of who is really good and all that is left is figuring out who can win conference titles and these days, make the playoffs.
What would the Fox promo be for Texas versus Ohio State? Please tune in to see two teams that might be pretty good?
The term slump is relativeRiaola is in the proverbial sophomore slump. Its a focus funk that leads to sleepy performance gaps. Having someone like Lateef give him an occasional spark is not a bad thing. You want hot hands in the fire. You bring in talent to burn, not to keep cold.

I'd change that to opine there's LITTLE chance we'll keep Lateef another year. It'll be the same deal as Daniel Kaelin.Especially in today's college football where a player can use the portal and be gone the next year. Yeah we have Lateef this year, but I'd be really shocked if another team doesn't offer him more NIL to come play for them. ... Do they match or exceed the money offer to keep him? Because you have to think that the #2 QB is not going to get #1 QB money to just stand on the sidelines. So therefore there is no guarantee we'll even have Lateef next year...
So you're going to risk pissing off our clear-cut, #1 QB by saying..."Sorry Dylan, I'm sitting you for a spell. Our OL isn't protecting well and our back-up has faster legs"so play him

That includes our starting QB. Just like last year, other programs will be lining up after the season to offer Dylan a sweeter deal.Play your talented players, find ways to get them on the field to help you win this year because they might not be on your roster next year.
His agent negotiated a huge buyout. Otherwise he'd have been gone a couple years ago.QBs definitely benefit in prestige by the talent around them. No doubt about that.
Some succeed in spite of themselves, and excellent ones never get an ounce of recognition.
Truly a game of the haves, and the have nots. The goal is to move the Huskers to the haves side of the equation, which they are progressing towards. But I also think every coach has a success shelf life and if they don't attain it in a fairly short time period, it isn't going to happen with restless fan bases and donors. Iowa is probably the biggest exception. They are sometimes good, never great, but Ferentz gets to stick around. Either because he has pictures, the leadership at Iowa thinks he's the best they can get, or his agent negotiated a gigantic buyout. Or all three.
