As much as we really need a couple of guys like Betts and Manning who can honestly make a huge difference in a game with a couple or even 1 catch that goes yard....guys who have the speed and ability to really take the top off a Defense.....I am and forever shall be a run first and often guy then use that threat to open up passing opportunities.

BOTTOM LINE HERE IS WE GOTTA BE ABLE TO RUN THE DANG BALL ON ANYONE....ANYWHERE.....ANYTIME.....
Most offensive lineman live for that stuff.....the feeling of being able to bulldoze guys off the line and make holes a semi could drive thru.....you don't rack up 450 yards of offense on the ground without the big uglies up front....you can only run so many jet sweeps and end around now days with every team having speed on Defense...it's the off tackle or off center plays that in the first half might only net 3-6 yards per carry.....that turn into 8-10 or more yard carries in the 2nd half that takes all the stuffing out of a defense.
You let your linemen lean on the defenders for a half and keep them running sideline to sideline and all of a sudden the little off center dive play that only got 4 yards in the first half.....is now going for 6-7-10 yards a pop in the 2nd half and when you see the defense start cheating guys up on every snap to help stop the run......you now have them right where you want them.
But what we're doing now is I'm told.....the same thing......not to me it ain't but we will see how far this long will run before Frost says enough is enough.

Coach Osborne was the absolute best at using the run game to set up huge passing chances.....trouble was we just never (with the exception of a couple of guys) had the caliber true dual threat guys you are seeing today. Brook Beringer was the best example I played with. He had enough tough guy in him to run any option play you could draw up but also had the presence and stature to stand tall in the pocket and throw the ball as if attached to a laser beam. True we didn't always see the stuff on Game Day we saw in practice....we saw Brook do some truly next level NFL veteran throws that were so on the money our receivers would alot of times be so shocked the ball was there they would drop it !....Brook threw one of the prettiest balls I have seen thrown and in my opinion was a far better QB than TFraze....Frazier led by absolutism....where Brook led by example....and that was one of the reasons Brook was so well liked by his teammates. He would get on a guy for a dumb ass mistake but did it in such a way that made the guy want to go and do better to make up for it.....Frazier would jump right down a guys throat and tell him that if he couldn't make the play, take himself out and let someone who really wanted to make that play come in. Both guys methods were effective and worked but Brook made guys WANT TO PERFORM ABOVE THEMSELVES.....Whereas Frazier's way made guys wanna choke the living crap outta him but they worked harder to make that play just to get him off their backs. Frazier often said " I ain't here to make a bunch of friends.....I'm here to win National Championships"....now don't get me wrong Brook wanted the same thing but he preferred to do it as a big group of brothers and good friends.
BOTH methods worked as you know, it's just sad the way it ended up is all cause Brook had every NFL scout that hung around school.....absolutely drooling to get him on their team.

I have read he might have a depression problem. He does not look "depressed". He looks fully engaged with the team. He does not look seriously hurt either. But if he something like a high ankle sprain and other ailment that he keeps reinjuring just running, then what. I have read elsewhere that we cannot expect him to play because he only was able to do 4 practices since arriving. I have read he knows the playbook well enough by studying it, but if he has not been able to practice, then it makes sense we won't be seeing him any time soon.

So be patient with this guy, looks like he won't be able to be a contributor until next year and he still would have 2 years eligibility.

He looks unnatural stepping on his right leg. I wonder if he has a hidden injury. Things like a tear on the PCL might not show up in tests but are painful.
