Also, was it the guy that filmed it, or the other guy who shared it?The charges were for having and sharing, not filming.

In the United States, as of 2009 ten states had laws on the books requiring that people at least notify law enforcement of and/or seek aid for strangers in peril under certain conditions: California, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Ohio,Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Don't know if the filming expert was required by law to do so. The most important thing to remember here is Mo was not affiliated in any way with the alleged rape, the filming, and the original distribution of said VID. The real question is can he be charged with both laws in California?

I would believe that 25% of high schoolers have what would be classified as child porn on their phones. But what percentage of those were consensually exchanged between willing partners? I’m guessing that number is quite high. Mo’s situation is a totally different from that.
Mere possession is against the law period. What Washington is alleged to have done is revenge porn under any definition.

This whole episode is disgusting on every level.

Yup, Mo's crime was sending that video back to Taylor (15 year old). The potential wrinkle I see is that he had to send it (IF I read the information correctly) to his step-father's phone first because her mother blocked his phone number. That makes it more malicious (the misdemeanor charge) but also means that he forwarded the kiddie porn twice. That may make the DA more willing to prosecute. Again, all conjecture on our part. We won't know until the DA prosecutes or let's Mo plead it down. Only time will tell.

A question needs be asked, the trail of sharing is ongoing, why did they stop?
Second chances for child porn possession?
Again, the judge had plenty of reasons to drag his feet, its others who are pushing this.

To add to the above, I've seen that the original video taker faced some charges. I've speculated that warnings where given on this video and then Mo sent it. IF this is the case, and I don't know that for sure, but if it is the case they where warned and he saved it and sent it, then the DA is probably not going to just let this slide. That may be why they are charging Mo.

They didn't charge the two people in the video, as I understand it, because the girl didn't want to "testify" or "prosecute" this. That will not affect if you have a video of a minor on your phone and then send it.

There are a lot of unknowns here so again I am waiting to make judgement.

I suspect the real story is never going to be told here.

Val, that was my point. Mo’s situation is far different, and much worse than two kids in love sharing naked pics with each other.

What I find the most disturbing, IF the information has been disseminated correctly, is that he had to text that video to another phone before he could text it back to Taylor. He was intentionally inflicting harm to Taylor. That's my biggest issue with the situation and why I keep asking what the "behavioral issues" were that got him kicked out of the Dallas high school. I'm not real keen on having another kid with a hair trigger temper and all the bad press that will accompany it. It if was a minor thing in Dallas, no biggie.

Listening to the boneheads on usc.
They keep picking the scab, then worry about the blood coming out.
Those guys are idiots, only caring about face, dont lose it, as we make it bleed even more without either having a clue, just distorted facts sending them down the wrong path.

Derek Peterson ,of hail varsity, writes a long and thoughtful approach on the matter, the two usc idiots barely have the patience to read it to its end.
People, we are wiser than this

Mo is charged with a felony because he texted that video back to Taylor. She was 15 at the time the video was recorded and that makes it a kiddie porn crime which is a felony. The misdemeanor is the malicious nature of sending the video to Taylor (I think the text "Remember this, hoe").

I've read that the video was sent from his step-father's cell because Taylor's mother blocked his number. That act makes it even more malicious (the misdemeanor part). Though if it was his step father's cell, it is always possible that step-father found the video on Mo's phone and thought this would be good sport. Does not seem likely because of the text conversation that Taylor and Mo had but we probably do not have access to all the facts.

Minimum, he showed bad judgment by keeping that video on his cell phone but so did a number of his class mates, I would wager. He just had the misfortune of being busted.

Bottom line is today's kids have to learn what they can and cannot legally do with a cell phone and what the ramifications are if they do not obey the laws. That's the world that they live in.

I would have no problem with Mo being red-shirted for a year as kind of a reinforcement that behaviors have consequences (if all the facts are as they appear to be -- kind of getting tired of having to type that but so it goes).

Confused why you think he should be redshirted?

Is it because he did something that brought negative publicity to his team, coach, and university?

Is it because you want to punish him by taking it out of the court's hands to administer punishment?

Is he being focused on by the police and media because he is a "public" figure with some level of recognition as a college football player?

If your going punish him then you better punish everyone else else equally.

Where did Mo Washington get the video to begin with, someone sent it to Mo...
I think just about everyone in that HS had the video. Reports are that it was circulated all over school. The principal "told them to delete the video" -- yeah and all HS kids do exactly what they are told. Sheesh!

Honor and a privilege to play football at UNL. Negative publicity to all of the above. Actions have consequences.

So, go get every kid from that high school, go to other high schools, all of them, start getting digital addresses, anounce each and every one of them, deny them all any type of scholarship to any university?
We are talking tens of thousands, which a good number are scholarship pupils.
So, lets trash this generation, and everyone else coming up?
Just trying not to single this out

Its called a web for a reason
