Mickey Joseph

Jurgens may want to be TE for a year. He's kind of quick off a shotgun snap but doesn't have great track record, especially against powerful tackles. The NFL prefers turnkey investments at OL.

Rat I agree and personally I think he needs very badly to work under a O line Coach who can help him reach his full potential as a Center. I have seen the nasty in him at practices and he can be as good as we have ever had at UNL he just needs the right coach to reach that place. He knows how and we know how agile and athletic he is...(I'm honestly surprised that there is not a gimmick play where he lines up at Tight and a back up center snapping the ball....maybe there is such a play but We never saw it practiced .) Cam needs a lot more time under center with a proper line Coach if he seriously wants that position in the NFL.

Just thought I would pass along after getting home from the Doctor and being freed from the mid-evil torture devices on my hands, and upon checking my phone....

There is nothing new to report Damnit !

I seriously thought there would be some huge movement but sadly it seems it was just a normal bodily function.

In other words a crock full of you know what.

We will post if we get word of anything.
Otherwise have a great weekend .

Take care of those hands. Sure hope MJ can land that 4star LB. We re going to be short on LB next year.

I am kinda late to this thread, but I (am sure along with everyone else) really happy with this hire. By all accounts Joseph has done some pretty great things while at LSU. Let's hope he continues that trend here.

99,
If anything Micky is well known and respected in that part of the states. From Florida to Texas he has an excellent record for finding AND LANDING the type players we can certainly use and this is a HUGE plus for us.

Secondly He knows how to coach. His record speaks for itself and while I never got to know him as a player he is by all accounts including guys he did play with, is a first class, stand up guy. The typical Osborne type high caliber type player. Remember Coach Osborne passed on alot of physically talented players that were either stuck on themselves or lacking in moral fiber to put it politely.
If this hire of M.J. is ANY indication of the type Coach Frost is going for.....this can be truly HUGE WIT a Capital "U" for the Huskers.

I think the official designation is Associate Head Coach if I'm not mistaken Val.

P.S.
Thanks for the good wishes. The wires and "crap" is all off my hands and other than they hurt like hell right now and are as stiff as a board.....at least they resemble normal fingers and hands again.
Again Thanks,

DOC & Kate
You are correct Doc he is also associate HC.

Get those hands better. Glad to hear you are healing up well.

We might be well served to tone down the "great recruiter" expectations for Mickey. Just a few familiar names that have been higher ranked recruiters in the SEC since he got to LSU:

Corey Raymond
Bill Busch
Vince Marrow
Charlton Warren

Recruiting to SEC schools is a different beast than recruiting to Nebraska.

Hope the hands get better , been told a good high quality Cbd cream is great for arthritis ( i know you have it , and it’s probably not the biggest problem)

Ditto to what everyone is saying about the hands Doc. Hopefully all that pain will yield some good results

Doc, my only concern is that we won't get the kind of elite players LSU does, because (to put it bluntly) we don't blatantly cheat and pay thousands of dollars in cash to players we're recruiting like the SEC schools do. It is the worst kept "secret" in college football. Everyone who even moderately follows college football knows how corrupt the SEC is, and how no one in a position of rules enforcement does a damn thing to punish any schools in the SEC for said blatant and illegal recruiting practices. It's all done with 500 dollar handshakes, 1,000 dollar pats on the back, a wink and a smile. So I am not saying in any way that Mickey Joseph was involved in any of that stuff, but it does make me wonder how a coach being in a conference that turns a blind eye to cheating, will fare being in a conference that only turns a blind eye to Ohio State's cheating and strictly enforces the rules for the rest of the conference. I guess what I am saying is: I am happy Coach Joseph came home, I am just really wondering if the results here will match his time at LSU given the two conference's polar opposite approaches to rules enforcement.

Louisiana is a crap-hole. While it doesn't get cold, it also never gets clean. And the combination of street violence and rampant homeless drug abusers kind of ruin all the nice places there these days. Nebraska has some minor patches of that blight, but the state of Louisiana never seems to deal with either.

Sell Nebraska for what it is. Paradise with a few months of cold.

I’ve lived in both Nebraska and Louisiana, and you didn’t nail either one with your generalizations.
