Well, if it is Brent Davis, it would be a big change…You find an OC that has similar offense as what you are running. Doesnt have to be a major change.

Bringing in an OC that runs the football and knows how to coach it would be the smartest move Frost could ever do. Sure he runs the option at Army, but I wouldn't expect that to be as heavy of a focus at Nebraska as it is at Army, but if we can at least get back to running the football 70 percent of the time, we will finally start to win games.
Depends on how much option, and if it’s a RPOI do not disagree with running the football. I genuinely want Nebraska to get back to running the ball, but I don't want an option based offense. No QB who can throw is gonna wanna come to play in an option offense. So a credible ability to pass, if nothing else, to keep defenses from being able to load the box is paramount.
And explosive receivers won’t want to come either, unless the offense had a wingback used like Irving Fryar.I do not disagree with running the football. Kansas with Terry Allen. Which was a horrifyingly stupid decision on their part. Mark Mangino was then hired and took a much larger dumpster fire than what Frost inherited and made a bowl game in year 2. Because a good coach does not need 5+ years to qualify for a bowl game.Okay... I'll bite. What are some other P5 schools where a coach has had 4 losing seasons and been retained for a 5th?
I am legit asking, not trying to be a smart a**.
Ah, I suspect it wasn't close at all. Trev didn't want to deal with a Solich type Baby Poop storm and Frost knew he had to make concessions ... the end.Well, I confess, I didn't expect to have to wait until November 8th, but FINALLY Frost won a close one!!!!!![]()
disagree with you on that. you can run power I , and play action passing. power I doesn't equate to option . many teams have run power I and had a good passing attack., as much as I hate the WCO, San fran won alot of games with Craig and Rathman lined up in power I ,and Craig running routes, I know it wasn't the base O, but they used it alotFans talking Power I is back. I call bs.
You cannot afford to run Power I-based O these days. You may beat the teams you're supposed to win. But you'll be dead in the water in big games. You cannot even do it at the high school level FFS. Multiple looks is the key. All the power you want is available there.
And as witnessed Saturday, until such a time that our o line can be impenetrable sideline to sideline and we are faster in the edge than the tOSU ‘s of the world, a dominating option game is a pipe dream.I do not disagree with running the football. Chris' take really plays to the question of 'what's your offensive personality?'And as witnessed Saturday, until such a time that our o line can be impenetrable sideline to sideline and we are faster in the edge than the tOSU ‘s of the world, a dominating option game is a pipe dream.
Ideally I would like the oline to be on par with what Wisky/Iowa typically put on the field - but still using a mobile QB so we can run the spread/RPO/zone read offense. I don't see Frost moving away from a dual threat QB - but it needs to be someone that can throw/execute first - use their legs second. And we need to have some under center plays as well - power/play action game. I don't think we are too far off at WR - obviously Toure is one and done and that hurts - but hopefully we address needs via the portal. RB.....not sure we know what we have because it has not been managed well and the oline just does not set up RBs for success in the scheme/playcalling we use at this point. Again a stud via the portal at RB could be needed especially if we have some guys transfer out (and I think will will - sounds like Morrison is not happy).Chris' take really plays to the question of 'what's your offensive personality?'
I understand that in today's CFB world, offenses need to be multiple to keep defenses honest. But when it's crunch time or you're in the Red Zone, what are your GO-TO plays? And have you recruited to those go-to plays?
For a head coach who has said he wants to start with the run, where's our OL after four years? And where's our RB room? Our scholie guy is a scatback-type runner, Ramir Johnson, and his back-up is a former walk-on? Really? After FOUR years???
And if you want to keep a defense honest and compliment a power running attack, then you need a mobile QB who is an accurate passer. A running QB who can't be counted on to make the key throw only makes it easier for a defense to crowd the line.
I say that if you can have an offense that can run the ball effectively out of whatever sets, you will be successful. Maybe we have an offense next year where you can have two backs and a TE one set and then 4 wideouts and a RB the next set, all without changing personnel.Chris' take really plays to the question of 'what's your offensive personality?'

But one thing that can be said about the B1G, it's got a whole bunch of damn good defensive coordinators -- including our own Eric Chinander.I say that if you can have an offense that can run the ball effectively out of whatever sets, you will be successful. No we dont have to wait, Frost turns the corner with the next two games GBRNow we have a clear situation to watch.
Frosty turns it around next year or he's toast. No more guessing or speculation
