He's back

Not to rain on anyone's excitement but the restructuring is the least we should be worried about.
We have heard that the Offensive Coordinator at Army is at the top of a short list.
Also that a really Well Known Offensive line Coach who is a proven builder of lines and recruiting linemen is next on the list....that's all we know so far.
But there is for certain more good to great news to come yet so this actually is exciting for us anyway.

Just saying,
For DOC HOLLIDAY by Big Nose Kate.

Are you hearing anything about a former husker who was a head coach being considered for an opening?

Were hearing all sorts of stuff as one might guess.
This much I do know the perfect candidate is going to be someone who uses A POWER RUN GAME THATS MULTI FACETED to set up the passing game....it's just something you have to be if your going to succeed in the Big 10.

According to Kate's Doc Holiday post, we're looking at Brent Davis, Army's Offensive Coordinator. That would a big change.

To be very clear here we said we "Heard" that was a person of interest.....nothing concrete that we KNOW FOR GOSPEL...Just so no one gets any part of their clothing all in a twist over what we heard was a person who's name was being bounced around alot in the last couple of days now.....nothing more.

And as witnessed Saturday, until such a time that our o line can be impenetrable sideline to sideline and we are faster in the edge than the tOSU ‘s of the world, a dominating option game is a pipe dream.

You don't need lightning quick speed on the option to get outside on teams like Ohio State. What you need, and what we clearly lack at the moment, is the ability to get any kind of push inside. Meaning, they'd stuff the dive and between the tackles stuff easily, which would make trying to get to the edges nigh impossible. If the FB Dive and Isos work, then that opens up the QB Keeper and pitch game.

To settle some stomachs maybe we should say this.
One good thing is there Are HONESTLY BUNCHES of good OC choices out there to be had, trouble here is whomever it winds up being has to understand that should we fail miserably AGAIN next season it looks more and more like everybody would get a pink slip....so either the next guy up is so confident in his ability and system that he isn't worried or he is just plain nuts.....
Obviously you can't create job security in conditions like that so don't put too much into what people are saying about what happens if .....Trev is no dummy and this ain't his first rodeo....
There is a whole lot more going on here than anybody knows yet so just sit back, relax and enjoy what's about to transpire in the next 2 games and from then on.
If and when we know anything solid you will hear about it as soon as it's possible for us to do so.

P.S. it's no secret that during the on air broadcast of the Ohio St. Game one of the announcers stated that during their meeting and talk with Coach Frost he did mention that he wanted to get back to a lillte more of the "Triple Option" identity and how Nebraska HAD TO BE ABLE TO RUN BETWEEN THE TACKLES also .....just food for thought.
We're thinking Frost knows what he wants and in fact who he wants already....to just cut loose that many coaches at once he would be outta his mind "UNLESS" he already has a direction in mind.

Again, jus saying

Ah, I suspect it wasn't close at all. Trev didn't want to deal with a Solich type Monkey Feces storm and Frost knew he had to make concessions ... the end.

Except this situation is nothing like the Solich situation. Frost has had 4 years (as you and I and everyone else knows) to produce a winner. So if Frost had been fired, nobody would have said it was the wrong decision.

Now, if Frost produces 9 win season next year, and is then fired, then that would be far kore similar to what happened to Ole Frankie.

What is going to happen the last two games?

Depends on how much option, and if it’s a RPO

True, but when I say Option Offense, I mean like what Army runs and what Paul Johnson ran at Georgia Tech. That is the type of offense I DO NOT want.

A multi-facted run game, with RPOs and outright downfield passing? That's the kinda offense that makes me smile.

You have got to be kidding right ?
No it's most definitely not nilly billy that much is for certain

Haha, yeah I'm kidding. Since so many coaches with Nebraska ties get thrown around I thought it was a good light-hearted joke for everyone.

I am very happy that Eric Chinander has done the job he has done. When Frost arrived, that defense was dead. I hope it doesn't slide next year with the likes of Jo Jo and Stille leaving the program. Just imagine how good it would have been with an offense you could rely on.

I quoted your opine that our offense doesn't need a major change. Frost cleaning house sounds pretty major to me.
Last I checked, putting enough points on the board to win is kind of the whole point -- especially once you're inside the Red Zone.

I just read this thread and when I got to this post just busted out laughing... it's 3:30 in the morning and I probably woke my wife up. Man, some folks just don't smell the coffee do they?

Yup- like I said, until we are no longer a sieve on the O line

I think the next OC and Frost needs to get two years. One to install the O, and two to see how it works post-Martinez (since I am not confident AM will be able to execute it).

If Frost and the new staff bomb next year (anything less than a bowl game?) and some of these issues are not corrected I do not know if Husker Nation will have the patience to watch the sh*tshow another year.

Well, in fairness we're being forced to watch another year. I tell you what, if we somehow are able to win the last two games with these staff changes, that'll make me feel a tad better going into 2022. Yeah we'll still have a losing record overall, but breaking the losing streaks to Wisconsin and Iowa would be at least a small block from which to start the 2022 re-build.

we win the last 2 games this year and go into next season on a positive note. We better have a 8 plus game winning season if not SF goes bye bye. Just getting to a bowl game next year wont be tolerated.

I disagree with you bolded assertion. If (and right now this is a major if) we make a bowl bid next year, Frost ain't going nowhere.
