He's back

Not to rain on anyone's excitement but the restructuring is the least we should be worried about.
We have heard that the Offensive Coordinator at Army is at the top of a short list.
Also that a really Well Known Offensive line Coach who is a proven builder of lines and recruiting linemen is next on the list....that's all we know so far.
But there is for certain more good to great news to come yet so this actually is exciting for us anyway.

Just saying,
For DOC HOLLIDAY by Big Nose Kate.
Thanks Doc and Kate. Appreciate the knowledge. Keep the good news coming.

Any concern that coaches looking for any sort of stability will not consider UNL?
I think any good coach can look at this team and see they arent that far off from turning the corner and go...hey I can help....and if the moneys right...well, if they are that good one year and done here wont hurt them anyway they will always get another job.

You know I looked at the offensive statistics up until last week and we are actually atop the big ten in the 4 major categories:
-Total yards per game were 2nd
-passing yards per game were 5th
-rushing yards per game were 4th
-points scored per game were 4th
And this is against the toughest schedule in the big ten. According to these statistics you'd think the defensive coaches should be shown the door.
This really shows the lack of leadership and poor decisions that were made week in and week out with this football team.

I never once commented on the offense.
I quoted your opine that our offense doesn't need a major change. Frost cleaning house sounds pretty major to me.
I think they are pretty good just havent put enough points on the board.
Last I checked, putting enough points on the board to win is kind of the whole point -- especially once you're inside the Red Zone.
I doubt there is a big change anyway.
According to Kate's Doc Holiday post, we're looking at Brent Davis, Army's Offensive Coordinator. That would a big change.

If the defense were the problem, they'd all be gone today.

If we hire an OC who runs the option, I am going to puke.

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the option as (to use a baseball metaphor) a change-up, sprinkle just enough in to keep defenses guessing. But running option as a base offense? Blech.

Bringing in an OC that runs the football and knows how to coach it would be the smartest move Frost could ever do. Sure he runs the option at Army, but I wouldn't expect that to be as heavy of a focus at Nebraska as it is at Army, but if we can at least get back to running the football 70 percent of the time, we will finally start to win games.

Damn go out and play a sh!++Y round of golf today and come back to a lot of breaking news. All good I might add. At first glance it appears to be a sound business decision by TA and honestly I want to see Frost succeed here so maybe revamping the entire offensive staff is just what the doctor ordered. I'm kind of excited by everything I've heard.

This'll make all the Pound Da Rock fans on the board happy. However, it does require an OL and a few elite, power backs like you've seen at Wiscy or Sparty.

I admire the way Ramir has stepped it up this season, but let's face it, he's not a back who's ever going to scare defenses in the B1G.

That doesn't necessarily mean we're going to a Option Offense what you think? I just think he could be good at blocking schemes and a good teacher.

Would mean we are going to running the football at the very least, which I have been bitching about for over 10 years.

No I'm just saying the offensive statistics are surprisingly good. Why are we 3-7?
Linving Proog offered up a pretty good Salesman analogy the other day. Let me tackle this one with a golf analogy. Huskers have some pretty impressive statistics between the 20 yard lines. It's like a golfer who smashes the ball 300 plus off the tee, then hits their approach into a greenside bunker. It takes 3 to get out and 3 putts and they walk away with a quadruple bogie 8. They gaze back out at the fairway behind them and point out that they were "right there"...just 100 yards away 7 shots ago. The Husker offense is the same way. Drive for show putt for dough is the old saying. You gotta finish!
