He's back

I quoted your opine that our offense doesn't need a major change. Frost cleaning house sounds pretty major to me.
Last I checked, putting enough points on the board to win is kind of the whole point -- especially once you're inside the Red Zone.
According to Kate's Doc Holiday post, we're looking at Brent Davis, Army's Offensive Coordinator. That would a big change.
What I meant was that they dont need to make a big change to the style they are running. And dont know a lot about Brent Davis but maybe we were planning to go to a more run oriented offense? So it would make sense to bring in someone who knows the run game. Doesnt mean we are going to be an option offense like we were when SF was the QB here. Maybe he and Frost have talked in the past and he just understands what Frost wants out of this offense and they think he can do it? Who knows.

I like how the University handled the situation very business like, minimized excessive payout, drew a line in the sand on job performace though it's one year out while minimizing the proverbial revolving head coaching door. The one thing that we should all be excited about is no more HCSF coaching tree hires. If he wants to stay here he better be recruiting the best coaches there are because the timeline is one short leash!!

Well, not until you just brought it up. :)
Ah, somebodies just trying to stir the pot. Not one poster has made a post anywhere close to that. A few in the "Fire Frost" camp have complimented Alberts on the fine job he did, cutting the buy out in half.

Perhaps HG84 was hoping for those posts, but I think he forgets that most of the Fire Frosts were all "N" on his being hired 4 years ago.

So if the offensive coaches, minus Frost are gone "effective immediately" what does that mean? Is Frost going to coach all the positions? <--- More a rhetorical question. Are they bringing in a new staff to coach the remaining two games? Are the current coaches going to coach out the remainder of the season? Gawd that'd be awkward.

I have stated here that I would have fired Frost after the Minnesota loss, but since all we're getting is a re-vamped offensive staff, I guess that will have to suffice. The "big brains" have spoken. And like I said in re: the Ted Carter thread...

When Carter said, "No decision has been made..." I chimed in, Translation: A decision has been made.

Again, not the one I wanted, but f it, support the decision and see how this plays out.

I believe SF is just going to tell them to go out and just have fun. :-)

You know....SF is kind of running the same course as TO did.

We were making it so unfriendly around Nebraska for TO around '78(?), where TO was seriously thinking about leaving. What was that, his 5th/6th year? Then things started to turn around for us.

Things that make you go hmmmm.

Frost needs to get better at being an evaluator of talent including the guys on the roster - use your coaches to help. Hopefully the coaches brought in for offense get the roster right quickly for the scheme they want to run. Recruiting, xfer portal, walkons - whatever it takes.

Clearly Frost has no clue how to evaluate special teams - hence we need a coordinator and they need ALOT of say on who plays on the SP units. And we need a kicker or 3 - everyone else in the B1G seems to have it figured out. I know - we had the all conf kicker back and he tanked due to injury - but if you watched him last season his kicks didn't exactly inspire great confidence - we got in close most of the time when he was asked to kick a FG.

When kicking costs you games that's on the coaches not having a solution ready. Our FG kicking and field position given up in the punt game might both be at the absolute bottom of FBS teams.

No kidding. You couldn't read a single forum thread, Tweet or Facebook post in '78 without people screaming for his head!

Doesnt matter what was said 4 years ago. You were all for him being out this year.

Yup, as were a lot of people. You gonna castigate us forever?

Frankly, your opinion doesn't matter because I know how deep my Husker passion runs. Doesn't make a crap to me whether you and a few other people can recognize that or not.

It's also entirely possible that, if the appropriate changes are made, the same posters will be glad Frost didn't get canned at year 4. It's also possible that nothing will change and Frost will be out after next year. Way too early to predict how this thing is going to turn out.

So what? Lobbying for a new head coach tends to happen when your team has had four straight losing seasons. But the decision has been made to reconfigure Frost's package and keep him.

I know you had fun arguing to keep Frost. But that's over for now. From what I can see, the board's moved on to discussing who our new OC will be.

Very similiar path. Osborne couldn't beat Oklahoma and Frost couldn't beat...well...anyone. But other than that almost identical.
