He's back

I am concerned about how much time to learn a new O, and expecting results next year. Also, what is the ST plan? But happy he is doing something about the O problem.

Doubt they change the playbook. And Teams isn't a slew of different sets. Might just need someone's undivided attn

I get that is an option, but now you have to get an OC that is going to use someone’s plan…and that is not something I would want as an OC…so then you hold an OC responsible for someone else’s approach.

The one thing it shows me is that he isn't quite as damn stubborn as rumors tell us. If he was, he would have told Trev that everything was falling into place quite nicely and we "just need to hang in there a bit longer".

I find that a little encouraging.

Right, he kept telling us how close we are.. well, if you have to fire that many coaches at once, then you don't believe you are as close as you let on.

Okay... I'll bite. What are some other P5 schools where a coach has had 4 losing seasons and been retained for a 5th?

I am legit asking, not trying to be a smart a**.
Let me do some research and get back to you. Kentucky for one right off the top of my head. And I believe Cal also. But let me do some checking, I'm sure there are several others.

Thats why you dont believe all the rumors.

Yeah, I don't get that whole easier schedule crap. We got beat by most of the same teams we're facing next year. Lose OSU and gain Rutgers and Indiana. Should be losing another team but I'm feeling too lazy to line by line it. Anyway, if nothing changes we can lose to all of those teams next year as easily as we lost to them this year.
Michigan State is the other team we lose next year

The firing of the most offensive assistants just angers me even more. Next year when it all looks like Baby Poop again, we will get the excuse that the offensive staff needs time to gel.

The fish rots from the head. Frost is responsible for the complete failure of this staff.

You find an OC that has similar offense as what you are running. Doesn't have to be a major change.
It doesn't? I thought our pathetic offense was the problem.
No one has a crystal ball. We may end up well. Some intelligent people apparently believe so.
I thought we needed to show some sign of life with a couple of wins in our final two games -- but apparently the possibility of going 0-2 and ending the season with a six-game losing streak doesn't matter after all.

Since we hired Mike Riley after he ended his Beaver HCing career with an 0-6 record, at least there's precedent for it. ;)

What's done is done and I hope this turns out to be a great decision.

Sorry, thought you meant "for the remainder of this season"

Not to rain on anyone's excitement but the restructuring is the least we should be worried about.
We have heard that the Offensive Coordinator at Army is at the top of a short list.
Also that a really Well Known Offensive line Coach who is a proven builder of lines and recruiting linemen is next on the list....that's all we know so far.
But there is for certain more good to great news to come yet so this actually is exciting for us anyway.

Just saying,

I never once commented on the offense. I think they are pretty good just havent put enough points on the board. Maybe a fresh look at the offense can change that. Also most teams are running something similar to what we are right now so I doubt there is a big change anyway. And who knows maybe with the option looks this year and getting bigger backs we were planning a switch in offenses anyway?

If we hire an OC who runs the option, I am going to puke.

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the option as (to use a baseball metaphor) a change-up, sprinkle just enough in to keep defenses guessing. But running option as a base offense? Blech.

Any concern that coaches looking for any sort of stability will not consider UNL?

Great news. Sounds like HCSF is coming around. Now practice needs to change to what works.
