He's back

So why do you think we cant keep those coaches? Why do you think this is the year they jump ship? If they believe like Frost does that we are really close why wouldnt they hang around and keep things going?
I can't stress enough that this is only a guess on my part, and certainly only my opinion but.........

The defensive staff is impressing some on a national level. It is perceived that the close losses are close mostly because of defensive play. I think there will hard looks at the guys considered responsible for this situation.......and possible lucrative offers. Then, without knowing much about the contract, there will be a risk in staying. The offense has dug deep holes for the defense, and there is no guarantee of that changing. Also giving Scott an extension might, or might not, be a long term deal. Do they feel they are being loyal to a sinking ship? I don't know, but I bet it's crossed some of the coaches minds.......should they get out while the getting's good.

Another thing that will probably play in is how hard is going to be to get recruits. If we put some guys in the NFL, which I think we will, that might mitigate some of the risk........but kids like to play on winning teams. We'll see.

I do feel that for Scott to make it over the hump he needs to keep this defensive staff........while fixing the offense. Again, JMO.

If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.

God,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

FWIW - I am not really surprised by decision.
My guess is SF is on a short (at least shorter) leash.

I'm sure our coaches have been hit up before this year. I bet most of them get offered every year. But that doesnt mean they will leave.

I really hope you're right, and with the changes that have just been announced I think you have a pretty good chance of being so.

And you can hear a collective "whew, that was close" coming from the defensive coaches.

So Frost just now realized the problem was nearly his entire offensive coaching staff? There might be one more guy there that hasn't lived up to the job title.

Unfair to Lubbick.

My take is - TA gave Frost an ultimatum. Have a plan to fix this or get fired. Frost relented on trying to fix it - but as part of giving Frost a chance he had to take a "Harbaugh" restructure than frees up more money for assistants AND makes his buyout WAY easier to swallow.

All in all......a compromise I guess we have to live with.

The hires and how much of the rest of the staff turns over will be interesting (beyond the 4 fired today).

I hope Trev included a "HIRE A SPECIAL TEAMS COACH" clause........

I suspect Frost has been told you are head coach - hire people to run the offense. You coach the overall team. No longer the play caller. Part of being "Harbaughed"

I am on Scott's side out of necessity and really hope he pops through the invisi-shield it feels like he has been trapped under.

But, I don't know that this was a good decision.

Offense will be a complete re-do - and possibly a different scheme (depending on who is hired)

HIRE A SPECIAL TEAM COORDINATOR!!!

Be interesting to see if we have changes on defense - some of our coaches are going to get offers at other places. How many stick around given Frost future being a bit cloudy.

I also suspect big changes with the consultants on staff - at least anyone that touched offense or special teams.

Probably not. He will be calling the plays the next two games since he fired his OC.
Clearly what has to be done now is different than what is expected of Frost once he has a new offensive staff in place. A good OC....is not going to want Frost calling the plays. He is going to be expected to hire an offensive staff that knows what they are doing.
