3-9 Let that sink in.

C’mon….it’s not even remotely close to a valid explanation as:
  1. Our coaches are in over their heads
  2. The players haven’t figured out how to win and/or have learned to choke
  3. The other teams look past us because of our record and let us hang around

The obvious answer is number 2, and it also applies to our play caller.

That can be fixed, and almost was earlier in the season.

Its not an explanation, it’s just a good movie plot.
Personally, I don't think it's an explanation because a number of people have to know, act and keep their mouths shut.

But, if all conditions were met it is a possibility. I just still prefer to think that Husker coaches and players are above such an action.

This is a big boy conference, stats are nice but don't mean crap if you only win 1 game in your conference !

We honestly think a miracle needs to happen next year to justify keeping this head coach. Meaning we must have a miraculous turn around and compete for the Division Title....nothing else will do.

Doc from Kate.
Stats give you an idea of how close you are. We were 3-4 plays out of 60 or 70 in each loss from being undefeated. It doesn't take a miracle to change those 3-4 plays.

Doc the problem is simple we are not very far from 9-2. But, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. A couple of better punts and two non fumbles we are bowling and everyone is happy.

It is not just a few missed plays, it is a philosophy. You can not win in this conference without running the ball. We didn't have a RB break 500 yds for the season. You can not have your QB be the top rusher and not expect him to be injured.

Before this team starts rolling off the Ws they need to establish a RB who can average 5 YPC or better. That will open up everything else.

Second, they need a first rate ST coach. ST play cost this team probably half their losses.

If you take into account this years record, players leaving through graduation or transfer portal etc. going with a 6-6 record for next year. The question is would a 6-6 or 7-5 record appease the Husker base as progress?

I'm going to make a "motivational" computer wallpaper for next year. So I'm going to do my part.

"We have spirit, yes we do, ...we have spirit, how 'bout you?!"

I've said multiple times that one of my biggest gripes for this team is our utter stupidity with the RB rotation. That's an easy fix. I'm sure he's a nice kid and all, but there is no reason that Brody Belt should be getting snaps when the game is still in question. There is no reason to rotate a guy in for 2 snaps. There is no reason to have 5 different starting running backs in a season (sans 1995 level circumstances).

For four years now, I have been saying clean up the special teams play, lower penalty numbers, lower turnovers, and eliminate a few bad plays per game and we'll be solid. Yet for 4 years it stays the same, it is like Groundhog's Day. Frost is either to stubborn or ignorant to make the adjustments. Anyone thinking they can leave Frost in charge and get the needed changes is not paying attention to history.

I feel ya brother. He could wise up... Maybee Doc and some other former team members could grab him by the throat and pin him up against a locker to get his attention.

Now, now. That's a bit much.

Not necessarily. In Basic Training, DS Gates taught us a technique known as blanket parties. Very effective in changing behaviors but only to be used in extreme cases.

B.S. I spent 21 years in the service and never once was there a "blanket party". There would have been hell to pay if anyone did that.

We did on one occasion in Basic. Our DI suggested it. That was in '75. We had a female, 4 weeks into BT, who would not take a shower. She was more than a little "rank". We didn't beat her to a pulp or anything and I doubt any bruises were left but she got the hint and showered every day for the remaining 2 weeks of Basic.

To be a good team the talent needs to be across the board. For the last two or three decades, Nebraska has had some good talent but always seemed to have a weak link. They always seem to have one position group or another that held them back. Some coaches are good enough to scheme around their weaknesses and minimize them. Frost is not.
However, this year there seems to be talent across the board and depth. I am optimistic. My biggest concern is Special Teams.

The above part was posted by Cigarman before the season began. I want his thoughtful expectation of next year. After the portal shakes out.
