3-9 Let that sink in.

Yes and you can lecture us about fandom and whatever else it is that you ramble on about.

It is internet protocol to not type in all caps, constitutes yelling. I've posted links before.

Whatever floats your boat, dude!

Its against protocol to type in all caps but OK to say you would pay to see someone hold a dude up by his neck to get his attention? I'm not totally sure what to make of that TBH.

Again dude, sarcasm, snark. No one is seriously advocating violence against Frost. People are frustrated and venting right now. That is all, at least on my part. I cannot imagine that anyone posting here is seriously advocating violence against ANY member of the coaching staff.

Your faux shock is duly noted and, quite honestly, laughable. 'kay?

Err, we were discussing slogans? How about "Expect No Mercy"? or "Stand and Deliver". or "Screaming For Vengeance."
There's a bunch of Rock n Roll songs to pick from

A motto? How about "dont forget to quit"?

Speaking of mottos, this has bothered me since day one.
What the #÷!! is 'no fear of failure' supposed to mean? You don't fear losing, giving up a pass, or failing to make a tackle?
The only thing I can make out it is being disciplined isn't important.

Faux threats= OK

Faux outrage at said threats = not OK

I think it's supposed to mean that you're not going to be so afraid of failure that you won't take a chance. It does kind of come across in the disciplined vein you posted. :Iono3:

Doc the problem is simple we are not very far from 9-2. But, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. A couple of better punts and two non fumbles we are bowling and everyone is happy.

Doc wants me to say,
Your preaching to the choir but we all need to face facts.
SOMETHING IS BROKEN .....SERIOUSLY BROKEN.
I could point to loosing Prohaska on the line but that's an excuse for their lack of push. Excuse me for this but it's my only experience and seeing we have several close friends who played the pipeline under Uncle Milt....Our line as a group lacked either the nasty or the power to knock everybody they faced around. If the rest of the Big 10 can get those guys why didn't we ? We have a good core group of Young guys who have both the nasty and will have the strength to knock people off the ball, push back if you will. I also understand it's alot to do with blocking schemes used by Austin. Remember he wasn't a Tenopir option days player. Honestly if we could locate a younger modern version of Tenopir we would win the battle of the trenches with a very few well chosen players. I've seen it in person at practice and my best friend who was a 3 yr starter on the pipeline and the rest of them have told me it's more strength and schemes than anything and they all played multiple years in the NFL and know a little bit more than most about what we need in the trenches.

So this being just one area of several we had to address. But still it's not a fix all the way I see it. There are several glaringly ugly areas that need new blood.
Special Teams and kickers that can kick
Offensive Coordinator that is a proven guy and it won't hurt us if he is a great recruiter either.
We have got to be who we are....no more playing the "I hope they have to adjust to how we play" nonsense.
Nebraska stands and always has for tough, hard-nosed, honest in your face, stop us in you can RUNNING FOOTBALL TEAM.....that can and will throw the ball when the opportunity presents itself. Meaning you pound the cow manure out of them till they get all wore out and then cut them to shreds.
Nebraska doesn't give 2 hoots in hell if you know what we're going to do, were going to do it and there isn't a thing you can do to stop us.
Nebraska is BLACKSHIRTS DEFENSE....no need to add Anything here.
So in some ways your right on target but others we think need to be examined and fixed dang quick, and in our honest opinion we need, with the schedule we have next season to at least compete for our division title. It can be done....if that goofball Harbaugh at Meechicken can do it.....man we sure as hell ought to be able to do every bit as good as they have. He turned his program around this year and was in the same spot last 2 years kinda as we have been so we hope you see our point.

Then there is this whole thing of loosing by 1 score. The only answer we can see is it's obvious we have a good group of talented players that with the right coaching and mental attitude can compete with the rest of the conference top to bottom.
I think it's more coaching and Kate thinks it's more Mental Attitude but we both agree it's got to be a combo of that and the little things like penalties, kicking game, coverage teams, blocking schemes etc.

So we will see what we see. We're leaning towards a guy from the NFL that Frost knows and trusts or a College guy he feels the same about. The common thread being he has said several times " the Offensive Coordinator has GOT to be someone he TRUSTS " and that's the key word here that he "TRUSTS"
So logic says it's somebody he already knows.....but we will see here fairly soon we hope. For many reasons.... most being the quicker that person gets in Lincoln the better off we will be period.

Go BIG RED !

DOC by Kate.

Thanks Doc. Always nice to get the opinion from someone that has seen practices and knows the cast.

While I can understand the importance of trust re the OC we’ve already tried two trusted people, neither of which had experience in the B1G. Like you I’d prefer someone who understands the importance of the run game so please don’t let the college person be MH. :)

Scott has talked about the need to transition to a power run game but I swear he doesn’t have it in him to stick to it. My 84 year old mother texted me in the 4th quarter to ask why we were passing sideways again. Lol

THIS! ^^^^^^^ A run of Top-25 recruiting classes = 3 win seasons?

Sorry, Kate, I agree with Doc.

I agree with Doc as well. To Kate's point I do think they mentally lose it when things go south but I blame that on coaching as well. They emulate their coach who appears lost. :( Gotta give up the play calling and focus on keeping the team together.

We did on one occasion in Basic. Our DI suggested it. That was in '75. We had a female, 4 weeks into BT, who would not take a shower. She was more than a little "rank". We didn't beat her to a pulp or anything and I doubt any bruises were left but she got the hint and showered every day for the remaining 2 weeks of Basic.

I'm not saying it didn't happen, as I was in Basic in '77. But...these were some of the mindsets of DS duty. For example:

Back then there was a mid cycle "break" of a weekend off downtown if you chose....to "destress". The one stipulation...be back at 1800 Sunday. Well, 4th platoon embarrassed their DS by having 8 guys not make it back.

So, what does he do?...he takes his 4 bruising recruit squad leaders downtown, find them, and then proceeds to beat the living crap out of them.

Final disposition...8 counts of attempted murder, and whatever punitive perks that went along with it.

That stuff was dead and gone "officially" when I was a DS from 89-92. There were way more constructive ways to get recruits attention, and fun could be had while doing it.

Same at Nebraska...my suggestion...bring back stuff like running stadium stairs.

I know a lot would not want this to happen, but this team from this day forward needs to be toughened up. Success through attrition if necessary. Stop recruiting snowflake-weak minded kids.

The Jimmy's and Joe's are an absolute, but we need the toughest of the toughest on Saturdays lining up for us, even if it means a walkon, and risk losing the 4/5* recruit to transfer in the process.

Vietnam was still happening when I went to boot at MCRD in San Diego. The draft was ended a year earlier and we had a lot of guys that were sentenced to Marines instead of going to prison... So, it was a different time, I guess.

Yeah, I was on the tail end of that, classified as VietNam Era vet because I had 180 days in (or whatever the magic number was) when we officially withdrew.

Our DI also double timed us for 6 hours straight because 1 room of recruits caused us to flunk the COL's inspection. That was just the time it was.

I witnessed one blanket party while I was in the military. It was for a young man who had a problem obtaining property that did not belong to him. He was pretty good at it because by the time he was found out, he had a lot of people wanting a piece of him. The following day he was transferred to another company. A little worse for the wear but hopefully a lot smarter.

You all should've taken him snipe hunting.
