Yes, I'm assuming (again I hate to assume) that would be part of the deal if they are still practicing. You mean like they would have been if they had played games too?

Me too, Votary. I can understand Frosty's initial reaction following the announcement. But I expect the University's leadership to be smart enough to leave Frost's comments alone. How Moos/the admins/Frosty thought this would be a good thing baffles me.
I sure as Baby Poop don't want to see us crawling back to the B12. Crap we could end up in the MAC or worse. Yikes!Me too, Votary. I can understand Frosty's initial reaction following the announcement. But I expect the University's leadership to be smart enough to leave Frost's comments alone.
Listen, nobody wants a Husker football season more than I do but we've got to be smart about it. Defying the B1G is definitely not the way to go about it.
Jim Delaney -- with an assist from Graham Spanier and Barry Alvarez -- had the clout get Nebraska into the Big Ten. But there were a number of people on the academic side who were pissed about it. Anyone who still remembers when we joined the conference will also recall that we lost our AAU accreditation mere months afterwards. Hmmm, why do you think that happened?
Trust me, there are leaders within the B1G who would LOVE an excuse to kick our butts out of the conference. The last thing we need is to give them the boots to do it.

I think that if OSU or the other 3 start pushing back, then the Big 10 will have a news release where they say they are reevaluating things.

I never said the rest of the league wants to kick us out. In fact, I think most B1G fans feel Nebraska is a natural fit for the conference. But that said, what makes the B1G unique is that it's an academic conference as well as an athletic one.If the rest of the league wants to kick us out and is looking for a reason to do it, why would we want to be a part of it?
Sounds like a redshirt year, or maybe the life of a walk-on.Imagine being told or asked to stay on campus, practice all fall, then possible all spring with no guarantee of playing anytime soon.
Yea, there are some major changes coming with regards to student athletes.

Thanks to Nebraska's recruiting over the past two decades, the University's student enrollment and -- just as importantly - the academic profile of its students has grown to B1G-like levels, but it would be naive to believe there aren't any lingering concerns in some (academic) quarters that UNL is not worthy of being associated with schools like, Illinois, Michigan, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.
Having Nebraska recognized as a B1G institution along with schools like Illiinois and Michigan is huge. You can't put a price tag on how much that means financially to the City of Lincoln, the State of Nebraska and UNL alumni across the nation and around the world.
I call BS on the bold part. Reasonablehuskerfan wants it more.Listen, nobody wants a Husker football season more than I do but we've got to be smart about it. Defying the B1G is definitely not the way to go about it.
Oh snap!!Why would the other teams want to kick us out? It's not like we've been a threat to them since we joined.![]()
My background in academia? Yes, I've shared with the board that I'm a UNL alum. But I suspect most Nebraskans can -- and do -- appreciate the value that being a Big Ten member brings to the University whether they attended school there or not.I'm thinking that your background in academia may have led to you not understanding how the majority of nebraskans view the University...
I strongly, but respectfully, disagree.Being a member of the Big10 doesn't make us anything more than we were before that.
