If that's true, and I stress the "IF"...

Then he'll never amount to anything. Football is a tough sport and through a season you're going to get beat up, nicked up, etc. If a player isn't willing to play through those little knicks and bumps, they might as well kiss any dream of playing on Sundays goodbye.

While in the Army, I had an unfortunate accident. I had a sergeant ask me: Are you hurt or injured? After thinking for a second, I said, "I'm hurt." I wrapped up my knee and soldiered the F on. I had 8 miles remaining on a hump and was in excruciating pain the whole way. But I'll be damned if I was going to let my platoon down. I could have easily opted for a vehicle and rode back to base, but I put my platoon and squad above my own discomfort. Football players are in a somewhat similar position; they have to be willing to put the needs of the team above their own petty wants.

People who've never played football, or been in the military, tend to think those are the same thing. They are not. Hurt is manageable, you can still play, fight, do your job. Injured is being incapable of doing your job.
LOL, my Dad was a Navy lifer , and that phrase is still echoing in my head. “Boy, are injured or are you hurt? “ could get me to run through a brick wall with that . Miss that man .

While I would love to report good news.....I can't.
I truly am at a point where the only thing I will trust is my own eyes and ears.
Untill I see Omar run out onto the field dressed and in the starting line up I'm going to withhold any further comments.
Yes we need several guys of his caliber as far as talent goes but the rest of the baggage we can do without. While it's very true everybody is a little sore or bruised coming out of the first scrimmage held last Saturday, bottom line is if you are not out there working your not gonna stand a chance to play....now don't get me wrong...we must have great talent and size/speed at that position and with him out there playing up to speed.....knowing where, when and why....I really like our chances in any game this season.....but the picture surrounding his position is still very clouded without him in there, no one has staked claim to that spot.
So instead of more speculation....let's just say this.... whomever travels to the Horseshoe should be able to play otherwise they are just taking up space on the plane.
Omar was brought in to take that spot an run with it....he has as of this day.....not done that yet.

DOC HOLIDAY.

Folks, we have to consider that if this guys plays next Saturday, we're still just delaying the inevitable departure. Football, like so many other endeavors, is hard. You either want to play or you do not. This isn't little league where overbearing parents can keep a kid in the sport because he has no choice. This is college where the motivation to play and push through the suck comes from inside. If you're waivering before the first game, this is probably just the start of the clown show, not the end.
