Omar Manning

It was being discussed some in the WR thread. I'd like to know what's up too. One of the good sources I count on mentioned "if he sticks around". It's not trending in the right direction at least in the rumor/speculation realm.

Saw on another forum of "insiders" he is 99.9% gone but it is due to personal issues and not anything in regards to football or coaches.

He must be going through something serious, I mean this year is basically a freebie and doesn't count against him. He has already put the work in at practice, why not stick it out and give it a try? Then again I am not in his shoes. Hope we are all wrong...

Looks like Hickman might have to fill the bigger receiver role with Brown and Fleming used to take the top off the defense if this doesn't end well. Fingers crossed it works out.

Yeah, I do not trust the coaches to really reveal too much. Rumors that Omar is not even attending class, and Frost including "Personal" issues" along with "minor injuries" is not very reassuring. Manning was the most important 2020 recruit by many people.

One of the other forum says Omar is really iffy at this point. But then falls back to the injury causing all the issues.

Ya, we can't continue to whiff on top recruits in areas of need can we? Sooner or later we have to able to keep some good receivers around.......at least I hope so...

we truly need Omar. I think he is the highest rated recruit at WR we have ever had.
talk about making me sleep like sh1t
I was with you til ever.
Fryar was and is one of the best all time at any level.

If hes better than him, then watch out Jerry Rice

Minor injury he doesn't want to play/work through is one rumor I've heard. Doesn't agree with coaches on playing through pain.

If that's true, and I stress the "IF"...

Then he'll never amount to anything. Football is a tough sport and through a season you're going to get beat up, nicked up, etc. If a player isn't willing to play through those little knicks and bumps, they might as well kiss any dream of playing on Sundays goodbye.

While in the Army, I had an unfortunate accident. I had a sergeant ask me: Are you hurt or injured? After thinking for a second, I said, "I'm hurt." I wrapped up my knee and soldiered the F on. I had 8 miles remaining on a hump and was in excruciating pain the whole way. But I'll be damned if I was going to let my platoon down. I could have easily opted for a vehicle and rode back to base, but I put my platoon and squad above my own discomfort. Football players are in a somewhat similar position; they have to be willing to put the needs of the team above their own petty wants.

People who've never played football, or been in the military, tend to think those are the same thing. They are not. Hurt is manageable, you can still play, fight, do your job. Injured is being incapable of doing your job.

Frost didn't sound very sure Omar would be available for Ohio State - but it sounded like he is still in the plans for this season.
