LOL. that's funny. Believe me, they reached out to Wandale through back party channels to make it legal before he was in the portal.
Based on @caligula post on the write up 24/7 had (I think that was the publication he cited) about this QB Ward...
If Coach Whipple thinks he can develop this player, then go after him. However, a QB that is so prone to errors, might not be able to be fixed. I dunno, it is a gamble regardless.
As to others saying the pressure is now squarely on Frost to win next year, I 100% agree. With the schedule we have, 8-4 should be the expectation. We were 3-9 this year and optimistically speaking, were about 12-15 plays away from being 12-0 or 11-1. I want to be optimistic about the 2022 season, but damn, 5 consecutive losing seasons is just difficult to stomach.

I'm not saying that there is any smoke here either, and I thought I made it clear that what I was told was very vague information but it was worth mentioning.
I have no clue if it meant they are waiting to see who throws his hat into the portal before making a decision or if it means there is a very specific person they have in mind. I pressed hard to get a definitive answer with everyone I know and they didn't know anymore than we do.....at least that they felt comfortable enough to talk about.
All I know for certain is the only guy on our roster who at face value seems to have all the tools Whipple said he wants has only had snaps in the spring game and a few in mop up duty when Northwestern came to town.... Heinrich Harrberg I think is how it's spelled but look at it like this,
If you were coach and had ONE SEASON to win or pack your bags..... would you pin your future on a guy that has never started a game or played a meaningful snap in our conference ?
Look I like to push the envelope but that's suicide !
I have reliable information that there is a very specific set of traits and skill level + experience the staff is looking for and they are not going to settle for anything less. Of course I asked "what if they don't find or get "that" guy....what then ?".....all I got was a chuckle and crickets chirping.....so you tell me then, what does that say to you all ?
If we are going to do this and their is one real good bullet to shoot.....you don't waste it on a lesser target....you keep that one in your pocket to drop load and draw down and pull the trigger when that one perfect target does come along. You have no idea how many times I have told clients to be patient the one they really want will 90% of the time give you a shot if you don't get in a hurry and settle for something less....because just sure as you take that lesser shot the one you really wanted will step into view right after or sometimes the sound of you pulling the trigger will make the one you REALLY wanted jump up not 200 yards from you......broadside and stand like a statue !
So I'm not gonna get all worked into a lather over nutthin till there is something to get worked up over.

My Montana State Bobcats are playing in the FCS natty game next weekend. Maybe it's their frosh QB that's started the last 3 games.....
So, I am hearing of this mystery qb. Might be legit and Thompson is not our man. Whether that's good news or not I don't know.
Me too. I don't really want you to say who it is you heard about, since it is speculation, but can I ask is the guy a 1 and done guy. If it is then I have mixed emotions as well.
Honestly, don't have a name. Just a scenario. If true I am a bit disappointed about Thompson.
How long until friends of the program stop direct donations and pay NIL tributes instead? And if they pay NIL, how do you write that off? I'm sure it's not a charity foundation. Hmmm, maybe it could be in a cooperative foundation.... But would you be vulnerable to Title IX as a cooperative non-profit? Questions, and more questions!
Probably the same way Texas did. They got a group together that is paying each offensive lineman $50,000. I'm sure it is set up to be a non-profit organization.
My advertising budget is like $150 a year. Good to see how the other half lives.
