Next #1 QB ?

The concern around Austin with Thompson didn't appear to be his athletic ability but his football IQ.
Texas blew huge leads in many games this year. Their season was very simular to Nebraska. Consistent self destruction. Damn we need to find a winner. Not another stat God. I hope Thompson isn't the answer for Frost. Here comes anutter one just like the utter one.

Johnny, that's udderly ridiculous how you keep milking the same bull for different jokes.

We just offered Chubba Purdy from Florida St per his twitter account. Whipple was recruiting him for Pitt the night before the news broke that he was coming to Nebraska. Any insights on him?

Nebraska offers Florida State transfer QB (247sports.com)

"Purdy joined FSU prior to the 2020 season, signing with the Seminoles out of Perry High School in Arizona. He was ranked as a four-star dual-threat quarterback by the 247Sports.com Composite Recruiting Rankings. He was rated nation’s No. 6 dual-threat quarterback and No. 8 overall prospect in Arizona by the 247Sports.com Composite Recruiting Rankings. At the high school level, in two seasons as starting quarterback, he produced 9,000 yards of total offense and 111 touchdowns. He was named Arizona Offensive High School Player of the Year by the Arizona Cardinals as a senior, when he compiled 4,423 yards of total offense and accounted for 52 touchdowns. "

As much as I like dual threat qb's I am almost starting a petition to not let Frost have any. After losing his #1qb to overuse (running) our fill in runs it an obnoxious 24 times against Iowa. Frost just can't help himself. He just defaults to a running qb. This is the B10, they'll get destroyed.

THIS! ^^^^^^^

If we had a RB who ran it 24 times a game, we'd call him a real workhorse and worry we might be wearing him out.

But our QB?
HOLY MOLEY! If you could only use one stat to explain our offensive woes, this one would be it.

This story sound eerily familiar. Nebraska coach (Callahan, Frost), in search of next Vunderkid to lead the Huskers, takes a transfer (Keller, Purdy) with ties to Arizona (ASU, high school) to resurrect program, while dismissing/ignoring the young stable of QBs (Ganz, Smothers) already on campus. Hope it works out better this time.

Chubba appeared in 4 games for FSU. 55% completion, 4 TDs, 1 INT, 20 rushes for 3.1 per carry. He played very little in 2021 6-2, 217 lbs - so bigger guy that should be able to take some hits.

If they can upgrade at QB, absolutely do so. If they can't get a clear upgrade, they definitely need to bring in at least another body.

If they can upgrade their running game, I think an OC worth his salt could make Smothers effective enough to win games. It might be their best bet, actually. Bringing in a better passer is great, but if you can't keep him upright, what's it going to matter?

I saw this above and made some calls this may indeed be happening is what I am hearing.
He really wants to play for Whipple and it's closer for his family considering his brother is at Ames.
He had better have a good on the run throwing game cause untill we get the O line sorted out or go through the Jucos and Portal and build an experienced line.....that can play together and fill in what we can't find with the best guys we already have and make a line that can actually protect and run block he is going to need those wheels he has to stay healthy in the Big 10.

But If we're getting one and this I've said from the day I was told about Whipple and posted it here when he was hired...this is a good un looks like to me anyhow.

We will see what happens from here on but the guys in Lincoln who aren't pissed at me say this is very VERY LIKELY TRUE ?
