Way to break this one up Val. I was just gonna tell Northwood and Uenth to get a room!

I think you get in trouble for marrying 5 women.I'm not sure I agree with that but you're certainly entitled to feel that way.
I seriously believe that another of the daunting problems we face as a society today is putting these athletes up on pedestals. Then our youth see what these "heroes" do and strive to emulate them. Would love to see the emulation stop and like stop now.
As I've posted before, we lived in Leavenworth, KS for almost 25 years. We were huge Chiefs fans, season ticket holders, the whole 9 yards. I have very vivid memories of the day that Derrick Thomas was involved in the accident that ultimately claimed his life. He was late getting to the airport for a flight to either a play off game or the super bowl (don't remember which). At any rate, I happened to be on the highways that day as well. Road conditions were horrendous. He was driving over 100 mph, weaving in and out of traffic, lost control and ejected from his vehicle because he wasn't wearing a seat belt. Threw a blood clot from one of his legs and ultimately died of a pulmonary embolism. I bring DT up because he was a GOD in the KC area. Everyone had DT jerseys and other memorabilia. This young man had 7 children by 5 different woman. Needless to say, he did not marry all 5 of these women. WTF kind of example is that setting?
A bit off topic but germane in how we give so much "respect" and adulation to people whose only claim to fame is that they are athletically gifted and play a game well. Egads!
I can't imagine marrying 5 women; I stay plenty busy with just one!I think you get in trouble for marrying 5 women.
unless it's in Utah

LOL RED ED; I meant with a divorce between all the marrying. I know you know that. Crap accepted and thrown back your direction.I think you get in trouble for marrying 5 women.

My response back is. Urban Meyer did report it upward. I think I had read.....could be wrong......12 times. 12 times the police failed to act on it because they didn't believe there was credible abuse. Meyer investigated and issued a warning to Zack but didn't find anything that the police couldn't find. And yet he was publicly crucified. At the time I thought the public crucifiction.....especially on this board was unfair. Every one called him SCUM and pretty much me too for supporting him. And as I tried to explain......I wasn't trying to support Urban Meyer but the issue that coaches be held responsible for what players and coaches under them do.
As an example of this I brought up SF and what would happen if something similar happened here. One possibility I brought up was Ron Brown and the potential fall out of hiring him in an anti-religious atmosphere our society has moved too. What would those same SCUM callers position be in SF was now under the scope?
To say that this is different than UM because SF didn't know anything is a rush to judgement. Some could argue that as soon as something came to the University's attention they should have immediately started an investigation. Yep.......they can conclude that it was in law enforcements hand and leave it at that. How well did that work for Urban Meyer and Ohio State.
As far as digging for information when you don't know what to look for? Seriously? All SF had to do was ask Mo.
Its why I think Bruning was used in the capacity he was.The biggest issue with Meyer was he lied about not knowing about the abuse when in fact he did. That's why I had issues with him. Granted the question caught him off-guard but he should've been prepared to answer that question. Anyway that's the issue I mainly had with him. All he had to say was "At this point I'll have to investigate your question before giving you an answer as I want to know fact from fiction". Something as simple as that would suffice. He didn't and he retired.
An SF probably point blank asked Mo. What was Mo's answer? No clue. I'm hoping Mo said that he has no idea why California authorities want to talk to me. Because if he did tell Frost the truth, then what's being said now is a lie and won't sit well with many people if that info came to light.
Amen. We should wait to see what happens via the legal system. Since this is the off season it gets more posts than it should and some of them are grossly repetitive. This is a bigger story than it should be.
Well I'll start off by saying "alleged abuse" and that's being fair to your side. There is very little evidence to support there was abuse other than her side. Not once did anyone who investigated it find anything but questionable content by the wife. In fact her own siblings called her out for being a chronic liar but we will move on from that point. The biggest issue with Meyer was he lied about not knowing about the abuse when in fact he did. That would be messed up. More likely that his "friends" who had the encounter with her sent it to tease him about it, i.e. hey look what we were doing with your ex. But, all speculation at this point.just a thought, but what if she sent him the video in h.s. when she was breaking up with him. she did say he was mad at her for the way she broke up....
just a thought it would be pretty messed up . but people do messed up things when love is involved
people within the University knew what he was being investigated for last year during the season.
If any part of the allegations are true, he absolutely shouldn’t play in the fall, and potentially longer. The incident is bad and certainly a black-eye for the program but -- good or bad -- I seriously doubt it will prevent him from playing next fall.
Absolutely. Bottom line is that, I hope, as a society we have evolved since the LP days and learned that bad behaviors should not be tolerated and should have lasting consequences. If any part of the allegations are true, he absolutely shouldn’t play in the fall, and potentially longer.
Sorry but the FIB was investigating our President and did not have time for this kind of stuff. It isnt a black eye for the program unless of course he is found guilty by a jury of his peers and then he is allowed to come back and play.Of course they did. Sandbar is absolutely right (for a change.)
Mo wouldn't have ever made it to campus if Frost and Company knew 'something' had happened but didn't know what it was. "Officially," NU is not involved, but you can bet your bottom dollar that Frost, Moos, and their legal advisers knew what the probable consequences of the incident would be before ever green lighting Mo to join the program last August.

The publicity surrounding the case in the Bay area ain't good. So we've taken a publicity hit regardless of the outcome. But as has been said many times before on this thread, we just need to wait and let this thing play out.
I'm just saying that when all is said and done, I expect him to play.

Yes Urban could have handled the out of the blue question better. He didn't. Are you happy with the prepared response from the University? Do you believe they knew nothing about the incident other than California law enforcement wanted to talk to them? And you believed they didn't follow up other than to call a lawyer friend on his behalf? Do you think people in this kind of power and responsibility just blow it off and say......"well there were no additional communications from California so we didn't worry about it."
I'm going to restructure how I deliver the facts because I got beat up on here by you guys when I told you it was a fact that the decision on AM had already been made during spring practice. So I will just say my sources who haven't missed yet in 5 years are saying that ..…..people within the University knew what he was being investigated for last year during the season.
And for the record......if SF has asked MO what California authorities wanted to talk to him about and he said "no clue". I believe the conversation would have gone on a lot longer than that. I've been given no information as to whether SF personally addressed it with MW so I won't even speculate there. At this point we need to hope the University can stay out of this and the main focus stays on Mo.
