…somebody edited my direct quote of his statement…Hard ass ? Must be the G rated family friendly quote of the year , compared at to what i have been told

Doc can speak more to his demeanor but I met him one time on campus. Absolute ***** but the dude won ball games. He held everyone around him accountable along with himself. He owned that huddle every time. He was cocky but he knew what he and the team could do. He was a LEADER! I loved AMs heart and attitude but he wasn't a leader. He wanted you to like him and be his friend TF didn't care. He was there to win games and Championships.Yes, look at Tommy Frazier -- I'm told he was an absolute hardass!
Agreed. Grab a QB who comes from a winning program. We need someone that can set the example of how to win for the younger QBs.Just so they're QBs worth a darn and not a bunch of losers who have no place coming to Nebraska.
The problem is the QBs you want to leave winning programs are leaving because they don’t play. How is such a player supposed to be a pegged as a leader?Agreed. Grab a QB who comes from a winning program. We need someone that can set the example of how to win for the younger QBs.
That doesn't matter. Everyone wants a perfect coach recruiting a number 1 ranked team a perfect QB who makes perfect throws and makes perfect decisionsThe problem is the QBs you want to leave winning programs are leaving because they don’t play. How is such a player supposed to be a pegged as a leader?
You know, we may have a leader on the team already, we just don't know. The leader does not have to be a QB, it can be any player on the team.Agreed. Grab a QB who comes from a winning program. We need someone that can set the example of how to win for the younger QBs.
Not all of them. Rattler, Brennan, Max Johnson, Dillon, all played and their names were/are in the portal. So there's plenty out there. The problem is the QBs you want to leave winning programs are leaving because they don’t play. How is such a player supposed to be a pegged as a leader?
Typically your team embodies your QB's attitude. If they are one of accountability for the team and themselves, then the team is going to be better and win games. There's a reason why we were so good back in the mid 90s. Our QBs demanded excellence of themselves and the team. AM didn't do that and I don't see him doing that at KSUcks. You know, we may have a leader on the team already, we just don't know. The leader does not have to be a QB, it can be any player on the team.
I hear that, and agree to a degree, but then I think.........Joe BurrowThe problem is the QBs you want to leave winning programs are leaving because they don’t play. How is such a player supposed to be a pegged as a leader?
There are enough recent transfer QB's with a lot of success to say it is not that big of a problem. A lot of times QB's are stuck on themselves and only one gets to play at a time. So, they get hungry and want to play somewhere/anywhere to show off the talent they believe they have. Them leaving or not being the starter is not necessarily an issue of being a leader but being stuck behind good players who are older. Another reason for leaving could be that there was a coaching change they did't like, girlfriend (AM2), or any number of factors. In the end a transfer QB's can easily come in and be a leader of his new team if he earns the respect of his team by how he conducts business. The problem is the QBs you want to leave winning programs are leaving because they don’t play. I look at Coach Whipple saying, "We have a bunch of QBs interested in coming here." through the lense of, what else was he truly supposed to say? "No, we have no one interested. We have spoken with 7 different QBs and not one of them is interested."

At NEBRASKA we expect and in fact DEMAND HONESTY above all things. That's a Nebraska trait that has been challenged from time to time by some coaches but in the end the Traditions we hold so dear held up and those coaches moved on....either of their own accord or as we "helped" them through the door.
I take a coach with as many years experience and the reputation he has at his word and frankly found it interesting that you chose that particular bit of observation to pounce on.
But whatever... Honesty and Integrity will always be the cornerstones on which Nebraska is built upon and untill we hear otherwise I will stick to my guns.
DOC HOLIDAY.
I didn't "pounce" on anything to my way of thinking.. If it was a "pounce" it was more directed at the dumb reporter who asked the question because, as I said, what do they expect him to say?
Am needed the change for a cpl of reasons, being closer to his gal and the Cats needed a QB and AM needed a change. The B12 dont have d s like the B1G. I wish him well on both fronts. There are enough recent transfer QB's with a lot of success to say it is not that big of a problem.
