I had no issue with ATX starting the Rhule thread. My issue is with a prominent member of BHF chastising and ridiculing members to "get a life" because they are excited/curious/opinionated about the next potential hire. Seriously WTF? It's a message board with diehard fans for a team that has won 3 effing games against Power 5 schools the last 2 seasons. WTF are we supposed to talk about if not speculating on the next hire and direction of the program. The crazy rumours we are hearing are all in fun. The guy who has posted 2-page dissertations on who he thinks should be the head coach is telling the rest of us to get a life and stop sitting on our a$$es drooling over every crackpot story? Eff that...Many of us are retired and look forward to reading about all the crazy "next head coach" rumours every morning.

I'll accept your points, especially the part about how posters should be spending their time. Personally, I have no problem with the introduction of info about Rule but the introduction made it seem like a fate accompli. I would have preferred something along the lines of "one of the contenders for HC". Crap, we don't even know if Rhule is one TA is considering.

I'm mostly trying to ignore the coach search process. Mostly all it does is get me pissed off all over again at Frost and Moos (for extending his contract/increasing his salary/worsening the situation).

Also, anything that is causing strife amongst the fan base I'm not real thrilled about and it seems like there are some cracks showing up. Perhaps I'm just reading too much into things.

The Monday after the Iowa game cannot get here soon enough (that's when I expect an answer at the earliest).

Agree. WTF? What do you think you'll find on a fan message board during a coaching search other than a bunch of threads about who the next coach could be or should be? It's harmless and as Hunch pointed out what the hell else do we have to talk about in this miserable season? No one is forcing anyone to come here and read it.

I agree with Hunchie. As rants go, a more appropriate one might be to question the sanity of those of us who -- for some bizarre reason -- continue to keep punishing ourselves time after time, week after week, year after year with this nonsense. This has been a particularly brutal season so its understandable why everybody is angry, frustrated and on edge.

I don't claim to be any great football expert but it's painfully obvious that the people responsible for running our program haven't had a clue. Fans like to talk about 'miracle' championship seasons, I think it's nothing-short-of-a-miracle that an elite, once-proud. championshp program has been allowed to be trashed as thoroughly as this one has.

Agree with both of you. Each of us has an opinion that is probably better than or worth more than the leadership has had in the last 8 years. Further the pain of the losing seasons which now approaches 6 in a row is more than manhy of us old geezers should endure. Maybe one of us will get lucky and get THE pick but to be honest winning the lottery is probably easier given what we know.
We did have two winners, Pelini and Frost which turned into disasters but they did have a majority vote so there is that. Unless we get a guaranteed winner the crap shoots will continue

The part in red. It almost baffles me that those who were given the authority were as bad as they were for so long. I can truly understand picking a coach that struggled, but why in the world would one choose someone who is the very antithesis of what we were. X's and O's aside why would someon be chosen who totally destroyed the type of culture that worked for so long. Truly head scratching.

Edit: I also understand the complexity of moving from one style of play in the XII to the style of play in the X. Two different animals that required players with a different skillsets It was almost like starting over, but get a coach who can navigate the change. Kinda what we need now. It's one thing to rely on development, but quite another to 'develop' within the structure of the transfer portal and NIL. All the coaches I like have 'developed' but can they do it under the lifestyle of the portal and NIL. I hope Trev gets a read on this while interviewing.

He is a career .500 head coach who a history of being inconsistent year to year and leaping to a different gig at the first sign of success whose claim to fame is that apparently he beat Penn State while at Temple. What about his resume (full disclosure I have not watched any videos posted in this thread) that screams "this is Nebraska's guy?"

I'm not saying whether the flight tracker is following Trev or not, but in this day and age, high-profile candidates for high profile positions are rarely going to interview at the school or at the prospect's home town.

Correct, the coaching candidate won't go to the school for the interview. Interviews will take place in a neutral location. The only reason, if he is indeed on campus, is to wait for the announcement and perhaps meeting with current staff to get an idea of which one(s) to retain for his staff. If Rhule is here, the parameters of a contract are all worked out and it's some last minute crossing of 't's and dotting of 'i's.

EDIT, I should clarify that is the general rule for high profile coaching positions. Low profile coaches will meet on campus. For example, if UNL is hiring a new Women's Soccer Coach, that potential coach will come to Lincoln and interview and there will not be the level of secrecy involved.

Right you are DrF. If you remember the Moos/Frost saga, they met in Philadelphia for their clandestine interview. That is not unusual with high-profile jobs/candidates.

I'm not doubting that Rhule may be in Lincoln. I have no inside information. But I'd be shocked if it was for an interview with TA. Hell, it maybe a smoke screen to distract HuskerNation from what is really going on. Or nothing may be going on. Could be entirely unrelated (doesn't seem feasible, but who knows)

It's highly more than possible any number of noted coaches have flown in to look around and talk to Trev. 5, 10, maybe more.
Having some sketchy proof of one in particular being seen means very little.

I've seen YouTube video pseudo expert loudmouths and sports celebrity tips that don't appear to have a central theme.

Ok look Kate's been trying to keep up with things for me and she urged me to post this for the both of us so everyone was clear where we and the majority of my teammates feel about this.

Sure we all have our individual favorite guys for the job, after all were no different than you all except we are on the " you will be the first to know after me" inside track because Trev has made no secret of the fact, what we think matters to him.

We will get notified by text or email as soon as an announcement is forthcoming then the university shoots out notifications to all the appropriate sports people or organizations.

Now to be clear here YES WE WANT MICKEY JOSEPH TO STAY ! no matter what period end of story. But not all of us think he has the needed experience as a head coach to run Nebraska. We (Kate and I and more than a handful of my teammates) think that M.J. has gotten that which he needed this season and should get his shot here rather than some other place.
One thing I can tell you about Mickey is like us.....his red doesn't run....he will be here at Nebraska as long as we want him. He doesn't care to coach in the League and has always drempt of one day returning here to be the guy and that's truth.

Now however I'm realistic enough to get it that the powers that be including Trev might not see it exactly the same as we do but they are not dumb enough to see that having Mickey stay no matter what direction they choose to go is the absolute best thing for us.....and here is why,

Suppose we hire a guy who has shown he has had some experience in building a team, but 3-4 years into his time here he gets offered a job he couldn't resist....for money, the NFL or whatever.....but he goes......we have right on our staff the absolute best guy for the job.... Mickey Joseph.

How is this a bad thing ? You tell me or lay it out and convince me and I will listen.....as GOD IS MY WITNESS I SWEAR I WILL.

SO.....IN A NUTSHELL.....Sure I want Mick to get the job now so he can get his staff ( most of which he already knows who and if they would come. I am positive of this) and get them and himself out getting the recruitment started for HIS team.

But if not I would love to see him and Bill and maybe 2 other assistant coaches kept from this staff kept on permanent or at the very least in some higher up recruiting staff position....but Bill and Mickey are no brainers.

So Jeff Monken, Matt Ruhle, Lance Leipold or someone else ....as long as they are smart enough to see the value of keeping these guys.....and they don't want ANY FREAKING VERSION OF A WEST COAST THROW IT FIRST, LAST AND IN-BETWEEN OR ONE OF THOSE AIR RAID OFFENSE MESS......were all perdy much good with whom ever Trev hires......but just so everyone knows right up front......the chances of any form of Mr. Whipple run offense or Mike leeches air raid.....or anything that resembles that.....I have been assured will not happen again as long as there is life in Trev Alberts .
