Wr’s love having 5 catches for 125 yards a 2 td’s, because the ss and fs got caught flying up in run supportSo..Mickey likes a run first offense? What about all those WRS?
Even run first offenses need good receivers.Wr’s love having 5 catches for 125 yards a 2 td’s, because the ss and fs got caught flying up in run support
I would be willing to bet my house and car that it wont be a her. There has never been a female head coach and dont think we would take a chance on someone not even at the D1 level currently coaching. But who knows maybe Trev will surprise me.I am with the sentiments of Doc and Kate. While it is fun to speculate, there are probably 20 possible candidates. As such, the odds of your favorite getting the job.are limited. Don’t set yourself up to be disappointed. Just be prepared to support the new hire and root for him (or her?) to be great. Chillax for two weeks. GBR.
Or they dont announce it so that other teams cant go "they hired a coach with no experience". I dont think that will matter to most of our recruits as they have committed to Mickey anyway. But doesnt give them time to get into the kids heads about it.If Mickey were the choice, they would have announced it by now to get a leg up in the recruiting aspect. Since he has not been announced, it unlikely he is the choice, or at least first choice. There could be an outside chance that it is contingent on MJ winning the last two games.
Great info ATX. Thanks for sharing! At the risk of catching more flack I am going to share what I am hearing. This should have been a done deal however the situation is more complex than it would be with other candidates because of Rhule's situation with Carolina. We cannot lowball Rhule or pay him the more incentive laden contract that Trev wanted because we have to pay Rhule "market rate". Carolina has an inflated idea of what "market rate" is and it is more than Trev feels comfortable paying. Trev has started serious negotiations with his second choice (not MJ). Part of this move is to have another iron in the fire ready to go and another part of this move is to show Carolina and Rhule that we have other options and hopefully they will relax a bit on their demands. You don't have to believe it but please don't shoot the messenger...
Someone (was it Jen?) suggested am incentive based contract some while back. If the base salary was high enough, and the incentive-based goals not too far out of reach, I would be all for it. I think things work the best when everyone has some skin in the game. From the get-go my sentimental favorite has been Mickey, but my realistic favorite has been Rhule. My second tier would be Klieman, Leipold, Deboer in no specific order. Campbell has fallen out of favor for most but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he were picked as well.At the risk of catching more flack I am going to share what I am hearing. If what ATX is reporting is true, it's a wonderful illustration of how WACKO CFB has become if lawyers for an NFL team can threaten the University with a lawsuit over what we choose to offer their FIRED head coach. This should have been a done deal however the situation is more complex than it would be with other candidates because of Rhule's situation with Carolina. I suspect these 'market rate' contract clauses in the event of being fired are because of situations we saw with Mike Riley where he took a low-ball salary to become an assistant coach at Oregon State. Some Husker fans were spitting nails because of it. Personally, I thought that when you fired a guy, you're not in a position to dictate what some other school pays him. I thought at the time, more power to him. We were the ones stupid enough to hire him in the first place. We cannot lowball Rhule or pay him the more incentive laden contract that Trev wanted because we have to pay Rhule "market rate". Would not be a fan of Monken— absolutely no recruiting experience at the P5 level and an offense that will not attract elite playersPatterson is saying he is not part of the Nebraska Coach search.
If so - that means if we can't work out the Rhule contract Plan B is Monken (based on the Final 3 that SI reported).
Guessing Monken is more willing to work within TA's contract stipulations - as any deal we offer will be a big step up from what Army can pay.
Completely agree, RSR. We'd be taking less of a risk going with Mickey than to turn the keys over to Monken.Would not be a fan of Monken— absolutely no recruiting experience at the P5 level and an offense that will not attract elite players
Don't RULE out the coach to the south of us (hint hint)...

Back in the day, I would've thought I had entered into an episode of The Twilight Zone to have woken up in a future where the head coach of K-State and KU were considered viable candidates for the Nebraska job.
