Frost wants more Husker Bucks

Frost wanted to make the point there are some advantages to being the HC at UCF. I get that. But he chose to do it in the most classless, raw-ass way he could. Lincoln is a fish bowl - but it is not the only one in college football. Frost at least realizes he can't handle a fishbowl...I think...maybe..
I agree he just said it poorly. I think he wants to admit he made mistakes at Nebraska or at least wants to admit he took a P4 job too early and was in over his head but he's not mature enough to admit that.

At least at UCF he's correct, no one knows him. However if he was at one of the other 2 flagship universities in Florida he would be in their unaffordable fishbowls as well. If he couldn't handle Nebraskas fishbowl (which i feel is pretty tame compared to others) he'll never be able to handle the fishbowls at UF, UM, FSU, Bama, etc. He just needs to say, "Mistakes were made at Nebraska. I've learned from them and have moved on. I'd appreciate if you all could move on as well."

That would require self awareness, and a much smaller ego

Gotta love a guy who got carte blanche for 7 years then cries about how he was treated. The real mistake was made by NU. That was hiring Scott Frost.

The mistake was compounded by the suits outside of the Athletic Department.

While I understand the blind loyalty of diehard Husker fans, people who knew football could see where Frost’s program was headed halfway through Season One.

I have always wondered how things would have turned out had his first game not been cancelled due to the weather. Just seemed like a sh*tty omen of things to come.

I honestly think it wouldn't have mattered.

1. He was literally given every resource he asked for to facilitate success.
2. The way he complained about "not having privacy" was also a red flag we all pretty much ignored. Being the head coach at Nebraska, you're under a microscope and he, of all people, should have understood that.
3. He's a whiner, complainer, and always blames everyone else for his failures.
4. Showing up late, or not at all, to practices and/or meetings.
5. We didn't know it at the time of his being hired, but he was a drunk.
6. Even now, after all these years, he is still bitter and angry about being booed way back in 1997 in the game against UCF.
7. He's a 40+ year old petulant child.

So looking back on it, no, whether Nebraska's first game with him as head coach vs Akron was canceled or went off as planned, there was no chance he would have succeeded, no matter how much we, as fans, wanted him to.

Frost has all but admitted he lacks the qualities to be a big time college head coach. I would love to see a list of people who pushed to keep giving him more time after the third season. There had to be some powerful people who felt Frost was the right guy. They shouldn't be valued for their football acumen.

I think the rationale for giving Frost the time we did was: we want to exhaust every conceivable option to help him succeed before we go through the expense of firing him and bringing in a new coach. And his playing here, winning a natty, had to have certainly factored into the decision to give him more time than we would have given any previous coach under similar circumstances.

You hire experts to make the tough calls. But higher education has more than its fair share of leaders who believe they are smarter than everybody else.

That's how you get an Ag specialist (Chancellor Green) making the decision to keep Frost instead of his AD who is hired and paid big bucks to make those calls.

But that's been the pattern. A Law professor (Chancellor Perlman) made the decision to hire Osborne's successor without his departing HOF coach's imput.

Give him a few Circuit City gift cards.
I'd say he's received far more than he deserves and doesn't need any gift cards of any kind. I'm done bashing him but he any more Husker bucks are definitely not warranted. I'd love to see the school go after him for not delivering or the like.

The time to go after him was when he wasn't doing his job and we had clear evidence of it.

Most people who did the s**t Frost did as a football coach at a high school or small college would have had their butts fired years earlier. But when you have a big contract, the Powers-that-Be feel such a justifiable action would be, alas, "too big of a public relations fiasco for the school" so it all gets swept under the rug -- with nods from the local beat writers -- and we fans are stuck with the consequences.

The time definitely should have been when he was derelict in his duties but it just really galls me that he even thinks he should get one more penny out of DONU. The definition of entitltement and that is not a complement.

Entitlement comes when A-holes like Frost are allowed to do whatever the hell they want--and no one calls them on it.
