Frost wants more Husker Bucks

I like the Mad Dog Vachon pile driver or the Sleeper for counter moves.
I was ringside when Mad Dog wrestled for the AWA championship in the Fairbury high school gym back in the late 1960s when I was a young teen.

Before the match, I recall somebody passed out papers around the first couple of rows and placed the rest of them on the ring steps. They depicted a cartoon of Vashon's face on a weaner dog's body with the words "Mad Puppy." Me and a bunch of other ringside kids thought the cartoon was funny as hell and tickled we were doing it in Fairbury. I couldn't wait to see his reaction.

When Vashon came out of the locker room, we weren't disappointed. Mad Dog went berserk as he saw us waving them coming to the ring. He grabbed the papers on the ring steps and ripped them to shreds. BOY, HE WAS REALLY PISSED!!!!

I was really proud of Fairbury that night. It wasn't until years later that it sunk in that our little stunt was part of the act and no doubt repeated at every midwestern town the fight card visited.

Speaking of old school wrestlers here is one with a Husker connection

Baron von Raschke - Wikipedia

Raschke was a three-year letterman with the Nebraska Cornhuskers wrestling team in 1960, 1961 and 1962. He is listed in the university's wrestling media guide as Jim Raschke.[3] He also played football for the Cornhuskers as a left tackle in 1959 and 1960.[4] After a successful amateur wrestling career and a stint in the United States Army, Raschke pursued a career in professional wrestling.

Sorry y'all I just now saw that this was already mentioned earlier by Fumble!

Tisk, tisk. If it were up to Jimbosc, he'd have you run stadium stairs until you puke. :) ;)
Actually I said run stadium stairs in 100+ heat. I only mentioned puking from the shuttle run. I can remember multiple times people puking during shuttle run drills for basketball and football.....so it was more sharing a memory than me looking to just create some vomit. Probably a reflection of the coaches we had at Catholic grade and high schools in Omaha than anything else.

Although whatever it takes to give the Huskers a bit more grit - Rhule needs to do!

Makes me proud of my mama's home town!n Even if it was intentionally staged by the producers. Most probably did't know it and were having the time of their lives I suspect.

He forced Husker fans to embrace the suck the whole time he was here.

The suck was in three stages:

Stage 1: Well, Nebraska sucks right now, but he needs time to get his players and implement his system.

Stage 2: My gawd his offensive system sucks and is utterly predictable.
1st down hand off to the RB
2nd down pass to the sideline
3rd down QB draw
4th down punt

Stage 3: Gets fired and leaves the program in an even worse state.

Stage 1 Suck Level: 15
Stage 2 Suck Level: 75
Stage 3 Suck Level: 100

Sadly, this is all too true!

I thought HCSF would get it done. I think most of us did. He needed an old veteran to work with him as an advisor. Honestly, someone like TO, but not TO. Scott just needed guidance and a kick in the pants.

And someone to keep him away from the booze and women and the golf simulator that was for the golf team to use. It's a very long list of things he needed to succeed.

I know someone close to him and his dad. What I said is what he said. But he was really referring to what you said.

Damon Benning hinted that this would be a problem when his name came up before he was hired. DB took heat for it. He didn't state the issues as you did, but referred to it.

Hate to start ;horse again; but UCF is 3-2. So much for little Scotty having the program right where he wants it. What piqued my interest was the summation of Scottie's last presser. In typical HC of DONU fashion, he ripped reporters for asking him "uncomfortable questions" -- poor little man child anyway.
