We all move at our own pace. I’m already at 5, but clearly some people are at 1. And that’s okay. We’ll get to the same place eventually.
The 5 Stages of Grief & Loss
The 5 Stages of Grief & Loss
We used to encourage/allow players to race back onto the field when they were clearly concussed. In hindsight, that wasn’t a great idea. Now imagine if Nick Heinrich’s concussion could end up killing 140,000 people....
I thought it would be obvious that my last sentence was tongue in cheek, so my apologies that it wasn’t.One of the big problems is, very few people have a grasp of the numbers. 140,000 people aren’t dying because 1 kid decided he’s playing
since feb1 to now about 45 people under the age of 15 have died from covid, meanwhile about 13,000 died of other stuff
since feb 1 age under 55 about 11,000 have died of covid, while about 190,0000 died of other stuff. Many having underlying conditions and even with the over counting
I thought it would be obvious that my last sentence was tongue in cheek, so my apologies that it wasn’t.
Not knowing who Alex Berenson is, I had to read up on him. The verdict is in...he’s not a reliable source. He’s a spy novelist who has dabbled into unsubstantiated medical claims, and is now making money on pitching contrarian COVID opinions to people who want to believe his message. Just the sort of source to cherry-pick statistics and then create a misleading narrative for his own self benefit.
Let’s stay on track. I’m questioning the person whose tweet you posted.his numbers come right off the cdc website
Are you doubting the cdc?
Yes, justified. Long term damage which translates to higher health care costs for EVERYONE!I think right now it is the myocarditis thing that caused everyone to hit the reset button. It's the long term effects that has everyone scared. Justified?![]()
Are the numbers accurate...and by accurate I mean do the numbers posted by a guy with a BS in History match what’s on the CDC website...maybe. I didn’t look. But let’s be honest, he (and you) isn’t trying to sell me on the numbers. He (and you) is trying to sell me on the narrative that is being built off of the numbers. He clearly has a financial incentive to do so, and he has a history of oddball claims. Both of which immediately make me skeptical.Yes, let’s stay on track, are those numbers accurate or not, was my post accurate or not? Those numbers came straight from the cdc web site
check for yourself
I’ve been following those numbers by age group since March due to the requirements of my business. They are very well known by some and completely unknown by others , depends on how broad and in depth your news sources have been. Where I’m at, I have to know those numbers.
it’s disappointing so few know the facts, but when you watch the news, many of the broader and in depth facts simply aren’t reported
I'm not sure how valid the claim of "the average citizen is having trouble getting tested" is. What data do you base that on? Is it in the heavily urbanized areas, rural ones, or what? In Lincoln, they have the one hour test available at the Urgent Care on 72nd and Pioneer Blvd. I used it for my daughter and had the results in a little over an hour. It is a bit more expensive than the standard Covid-19 test I took, which took 3 days for results, but it is nice to have options. CDC has also recently dropped the "2nd negative test" from the requirement for a clean bill of health for Covid-19 positive people, saying it appears unnecessary and has overburdened the testing system. Hopefully that will help open up some more capacity in those areas that may have testing issues..Here's my problem with what you said SOC. Test, test, test. The average citizen on the street is having difficulties getting tested. We have testing in GI but very limited and the slots fill up almost as soon as they are announced. But, in order to play the Holy Grail known as CFB, we will use an exhorbitant number of tests. Kind of tells the general population that your health doesn't matter. If we have to use tests on any kind of athletics right now and the public cannot get equal access to testing; we don't need sports.
At least that is my opinion.
I think you need to be careful where you want to go with this line of thinking. Excessive obesity and Type 2 diabetes due to poor behavior/dietary choices leads to a myriad of increased health costs for everyone, not to mention higher Covid-19 risk, but do we REALLY want to go down that path?Yes, justified. Long term damage which translates to higher health care costs for EVERYONE!
Ya, many policies are trying to prevent the kids from going back and forth from home to school. I would think the Colleges want to avoid that. That's the reasoning to end the semester at Thanksgiving break, in that it eliminates a trip home and back around the holidays. I'm not sure what the acceptable risk level is in all of this, but we need to figure it out at some point if we want to function as a society with some kind of social fabric...viruses/pathogens aren't going anywhere anytime soon...I read something about that too. My concern was with Saban, et al., who talked about them going home.
Yes by all meansYes, justified. Long term damage which translates to higher health care costs for EVERYONE!
Do the numbers as posted come with a certainty that the death rate will remain constant, or even decrease? Do the numbers indicate that this rate will hold once you throw hundreds of kids into a confined space for hours on end?.
One of the big problems is, very few people have a grasp of the numbers.
Many having underlying conditions and even with the gross over counting that’s going on in many places. Move the goalposts in 3,2,1
When you look at the numbers from other countries that never closed or have opened back up, the answer is a resounding yes
so as to not be accused of confirmation bias, I’ll let you google it on your own
Yes we need to get these rates down to zero, no matter the cost
One of the leading causes of death in our youth are car accidents
Lets do remote learning and ban kids from riding in cars so there is absolutely no risk of them perishing in an auto accident
Myocarditis has also been a long (or short) term documented side effect from various flu strains, in young and old.. It doesn't happen in a very high percentage of cases, but it happens and is not specific to Covid-19...unfortunately it will probably be a side effect of any virus/pathogen that stimulates widespread inflammation in the body.I think right now it is the myocarditis thing that caused everyone to hit the reset button. It's the long term effects that has everyone scared. Justified?![]()
When Covid Subsided, Israel Reopened Its Schools. It Didn’t Go Well.
I googled it and found this. Not really building confidence.
