I'm just astounded at how cavalier some people are on here with other people's deaths (potentially). If you've never lost a child, you have no idea how absolutely devastating it is. You never, ever get over it. You live your life but every time their birthday that passes, you wonder what your child would look like, what their life would have been like. It's the gift that unfortunately keeps on giving, for freakin' ever.

The difference between car accidents and C-19 deaths is that there are things we could do to minimize those deaths. Playing a freakin' sports game is just not essential right now. Can we please get our priorities in order. Sheesh!

Uenth, a little off topic, but what happened to Starbucks in GI? Somebody come down with the Covid.

I don't have a clue. Last time I drove by, the lines were ridiculously long. I'm assuming it's been closed down?

I just googled it and it shows as "Open" today.

Two weeks from now we'll know what happens when kids go back to school. My prediction is the crap is going to hit the fan even worse than it did the first time around. There is no way you are going to get little kids to keep their masks on, wash their hands, not touch their face and social distance. And they'll either bring it to school, or home from school, and adults are going to die.

I absolutely hate this $hit.

I don't think it's respectful to question other posters motives so I'm leaving that part of your post aside. This part however is to the point some other have been making. You can reduce your risk of a car accident. You can bring it to zero in fact if you don't drive or ride in a car. People assess the risk and choose to do it anyway.

The one near where I live has been shut down for what feels like several months. Employees got sick and they shut it down. Hasn't opened back up that I'm aware of.

I can't think of it as anything other than cavalier when posters act like "Oh well, Baby Poop happens" about people dying and all so we can watch Nebraska Football.

I frankly don't give a monkey's rat's ass if someone is offended because the attitudes about C-19 I see in person and read just blow me away. "Don't ask me to wear a mask -- it's an infringement of my constitutional rights" and all that other horse Baby Poop.

Simple truth is if this country had been shut down 100% when the first cases hit and people who tested positive were quarantined, we would not be having this discussion as we would be back to normal. But nope, we couldn't do that. Now, Baby Poop is going to hit the fan and most folks don't seem to give a Baby Poop as long as they can go to Sturgis and make an ass of themselves, watch college football, go get Baby Poop faced at the bars or whatever else their little hearts desire.

I'm not sure how valid the claim of "the average citizen is having trouble getting tested" is. What data do you base that on? Is it in the heavily urbanized areas, rural ones, or what? In Lincoln, they have the one hour test available at the Urgent Care on 72nd and Pioneer Blvd. I used it for my daughter and had the results in a little over an hour. It is a bit more expensive than the standard Covid-19 test I took, which took 3 days for results, but it is nice to have options. CDC has also recently dropped the "2nd negative test" from the requirement for a clean bill of health for Covid-19 positive people, saying it appears unnecessary and has overburdened the testing system. Hopefully that will help open up some more capacity in those areas that may have testing issues..

Sorry that comes from the Central District Health Departments. When the testing is available in GI, they always say to register early or show up early or whatever as the slots go quickly.

You obviously paid for your daughter's test. Good on you but if you haven't been working or work as a waiter/waitress, you probably don't have the $$$'s to pony up as you're trying to pay rent.

Agreed. Also the average age of death is 80 in the US. Normal life expectancy is 78.5. While yes this virus is a doozy, we need to quit focusing on extremes of the bell curve.

The big focus of the Big 10, of myocarditis (sp?), you can get through many viral infections, not just Covid.

So I think it is very obvious that tensions are high. I have already banned someone today. I think in the interest of forum unity we are locking this down. Hopefully that time will allow us to take a breather. My guess is that in a few hours we will have news on what the B1G is going to decide. The discussion on this will last for a long time and the repercussions will be felt for years.
