Eichorst is out

I won't disagree there. But I'm jaded as Turner is one of my favorites. Definitely has the leadership skills. Was actually surprised TO went with Bo over Turner when that went down and by the fact Turner was so quickly out of the running then.

Turner is at Riley's coaching level right now - not really expecting Turner to be the 100 hour a week head coach the program might need - and Frost has been on hold for two weeks in a row to see where his team is at.

Nebraska can do better than Turner. Seriously.

Just hire the best candidate out there for AD. Doesn't have to be a Nebraska guy. Same with the head coach if it's going to go that far.

If you guys want the national media to start talking about Nebraska in a positive light, if they were to hire Turner as the head coach, that would be universally mocked all over the country.

Please God not the Turner Gill stuff again. He isn't a good coach, period. He's a great man, but a marginal coach. We don't need a healer, we need a winner. Winning will heal every ounce of pain the fan base has suffered over the past 17 years.

Indeed. Let's hire Turner Gill because he's a nice God fearing man. Great plan.

Or perhaps the worst hiring idea I've heard since the last time his name was considered.

Step away from the ledge. I said I'd prefer Turner over Scott Frost at this point. The Scott Frost talk is way too early.

The program was (is) about to lose a portion of its fan base because the team is playing so poorly. A change had to be made starting at the top. Obviously more changes need to be made. What I find so difficult to understand is that Nebraska now has more money than ever for football and is in the most prestigious conference in football and still can field a top 20 team.

I am off the Energy Bus and soon to leave the HCMR bus too. I will also admit that I was WRONG in my support of both hires.

You weren't wrong to support the hires at all.

I also had my hesitations/reservations about the Mike Riley hire, but it was done and at that point, all us fans could do was hope for the best.

But now, especially after the embarrassing loss to directional Illinois, with how poorly the team played, with how soft, passive, and weak Mike Riley's offense is, it is abundantly clear he's not the guy.

Whom ever the next coach is, needs to put a good product on the field. All I want to see is Nebraska play tough, physical, hard-nosed, smart and disciplined, football. I don't really care what type of offense or defense we run.

I could live with quite a few losses if the team played hard nosed football. That isn't happening.

I can live with a loss if the team plays well, plays hard, and gives max effort every snap...clearly that is not happening.

I couldn't really live with "quite a few losses." For example, being perpetually 6-6 even if you're playing hard gets real old. But I get your point.

AMEN!!!

I think we're best served by focusing on the open AD job. Unless we look like crap the remainder of the year and don't make a bowl game I'm not convinced Riley will be fired. So worrying about new HC's is probably a waste for now.

i don't know all the names but some really like the current AD's at Colorado State, Northwestern, Duke, TCU and then of course UNO. Good thing is it sounds like the leadership at the top want the best for all our programs and will make all attempts to get the very best person for the job.

I was very surprised it happened but also excited to see some true leadership instead of Perlman/Eichlorst. Getting TO back is a step in right direction and going out and getting the right person and yes having some Nebraska ties is a good thing but not a must. Paul Meyers or Jamie Williams?

I would love to have Louisville's AD, at least from the 10,000 foot view. It is amazing how good they are doing in all 3 major sports. Granted, I know nothing about his dealings with boosters, fans, etc but I want NU to be like that in all 3 sports. Minus Bobby Petrino, of course!

I like guys such as Gill, Trev, and Rimington, and perhaps they would be good hires. But I'll be disappointed if we don't seek out big-time talent for all future openings.

Phillips, the AD at Northwestern, has done an incredible job in Evanston. Go after someone like that. Let's not insist everyone on the short list has a Nebraska pedigree.

ED Stewart is another name that has been mentioned as well.

Ed has a lot of baggage from the Ricky Clemons fiasco at Mizzou. A lot of people said he was closer to it than reported and tried to get AD jobs and could not. I do know his wife took many calls from Clemons when he was in the Boone Co Jail.
