So we take one article from Jonathan Turley that quotes like 2 people and paint with a broad brush the entire media landscape? That would be like me grabbing 2 farmers from Nebraska and asking them what they would be planting next season and basing crop forecasts off of that alone.

Without College, no doctors, nurses, physisists (Can't spell today), etc.

Journalism has its problems but it's not College. It's what our society has denigrated to. When Reality TV shows rule the airwaves, that gives you a clue where the problem lays. Somehow society decided "entertainment", including news, is what society wants. Not what I want so no live TV anymore.

Don't blame acadamia for what the American people are clamoring for. KUWTK has been on the air for how many years? There's your problem.

How about we get this thread back on track. Since it sounds like the season will be back on, let's talk about what UNL is doing to protect the players from COVID.

Has anyone heard what they have done, can we use their knowledge in our daily lives?

I hope the Huskers fit their team with the same face shields that the KC Chiefs used. Those visors provided the same functionality as a mask. This, of course, is qualified by an assumption that the shield does not impair the player getting sufficient oxygen.

I don't know what kind of face shield the Chiefs used, so not sure if this is pertinent.

I do know that face shields would not prevent a quarantine necessity in the case of exposure in a school according to the CDC. Face mask and distancing would, but not a face shield.

Before the Chief's game they talked about and showed the shield. It was attached to the helmet and they stated that it provided the same protection as wearing a mask.

If that is correct then I think it would be a better option and a smart protection feature for the team.

I would think wearing a mask while playing would be tough duty. I get oxygen deprived just wearing a mask while walking around.

Most of the medical crews wear face masks and face shields.
Had my routine dental appointment this morning.

Kind of different. Take your temp at the door, screeing questions and then you disinfect your hands. Dental tech escorted me back. We both had masks on. I took my mask of and rinsed with a new rinse before she started. She put a shield on, in addition to her mask, before starting the cleaning process. No longer see the dentist unless you are having an issue. X-rays discovered that I havea cavity behind a very old filling (silver). Dentist looked at x-rays and said: "Schedule her for a visit" but I didn't see him. Will see him in December when I get the cavity taken care off. Small cavity and without x-rays, they wouldn't have known it was there. I was suspicious that something was awry as I had been having on and off discomfort in that area of my mouth but not consistently. Figured that I'd find out what the problem was when I had my check up which I did.

Tech said that they get all their PPE from the Health Department and that is why you don't see the dentist unless there is a problem. They have to make sure that their PPE lasts until the next allotment comes from the Health Department. I found that all very interesting. Strange times to be sure.

Its only safe to visit the dentist when you are in severe pain.

If the shield on the helmet is the answer Frost should demand the team wear the helmet 24/7. Weekend parties are fine, just wear protection. How many times have we heard that?
