COVID-19 in Central Nebraska

It appears contact spread is not common at all from surfaces, no cases run back to getting it at the grocery store.
Mostly from the air.
Just saying this to give you more peace of mind, but certainly continue to be thorough, other than chem showers, great routine.
What do you mean by air? Folks sneezing, coughing, etc?

In aerosol form, from coughing, but even speaking to a much lesser degree.
If theres no air movement or sun, it can linger.
Ourdoor stadiums with proper spacing can be done, with risk, depending on us all.

Basically, from everything I've read, its highly concentrated in the lungs, which interestingly enough, exertions push those antibodies into the lungs as well. I'm sure it's a natural function to place the bodies defenses into the proper areas.

In that case, grocery stores cannot be considered exempt. If folks are closer than 6', coughing, sneezing, etc. That's why I like to go first thing in the morning. There were less than a dozen other shoppers in the first store and maybe a dozen and a half at the second store. Most of the time I felt like I had the store to myself.

Regardless of how many other shoppers are there, I still like coming home, unloading, getting those pesky plastic bags out of the house and then showering, just in case I picked something up.

CBS's Eye on Veterans reported this morning that Intelligence is claiming that the actual death's in Wuhan province is closer to 250,000.
If true, it went unimpeded longer than we thought.
Models that are now reaching the numbers my link points to would have put it at half that.

So, it ran rampant, obviously got their med system overun, and far more people got infected.
Current guesses here on total population percentages are around 20%.
If it was 250,000, then close to half the population were infected.
Thats for Hubei province, which Wuhan is its capitol.

Obit on the woman. 73 years old, originally from Farwell. Full obit is still to come so I don't know what nursing home she was at. We know that 2 nursing homes in GI had at least one worker test positive and one in Aurora (if I'm remembering correctly).
Thanks! I have a special interest in the nursing/assisted home situation since we have some loved ones living in them. I have a great appreciation for the institutions who take proper steps to care for their residents, and great disdain for those who do not.

My wife has a grand niece who works in one, who felt she might be running a temperature. She was, so the facility had her get tested. She was coronavirus free, so able to return work, BUT the fact that the facility took the necessary precautions is reassuring when you hear of the abuses happening across the nation. When you hear that over 25% of all deaths in New York are nursing home related, you get an appreciation for the situation these facilities are in......ie dealing the elderly, the immune compromised, and those in a compressed environment...….has to be challenging to say the least.

At any rate.....thanks again.

Problem here is, people are likely shedding virus two days before symptoms appear.:(

This is where it gets tricky......and expensive. Clearly we won't do 330 million tests. There will be gaps......big ones. Almost as important the tests themselves, is the ability to determine who needs to be tested pre-emptively...….not an easy task.

Another problem, and trust me,you know I'm a positive guy, but

Currently, testing isn't 100% for varying reasons, simply not done correctly, missing the highest concentrations of virus, as tests only work with a certain amout of virus showing
And
People will vary in their virus load,as this ramps up fast, things and amount of virus can change quickly.

All is not gloom and doom, finding people with those antibodies can,r should be free to work, without concerns of spread, but, we need to know how long and at what levels of those antibodies will stay at those levels.
Once infected, bad analogy here, but your cells get memory like memory muscle, and quickly start reproducing those antibodies.

At this point, those in highest danger just need to hang in there, avoid infection, and everything new coming out needs to be at these places of high potential harm.
We will only get better at this.

Gulp! Interesting, but scary stuff. There is always a learning curve when addressing something new, but in this case the missteps need to be minimized...…..too much at stake.

All I know is CNHD now has 425 positive cases, blowing Douglas County out of the water. This is an honor we in the Central Nebraska area could live without.

My business is decimated. I could handle that as I was going part-time but not being able to go to the mall or the shoe store, etc just drives me up the flippin' wall.

Hang in there, a years a long time off.

Ahhh, big outing today.

I have two very small customer projects, aside from the never ending supply of quilts I'm working on I quilt little at a time so those jobs are a ways from being finished. Just turns out better that way.

Two zippers, one a jacket pocket and the other a long zipper for a backpack. Also needed some batting for a baby quilt for our neighbor across the street. Emergency C Section a week and a half ago but everyone is home and doing well. You can't go into JoAnn's as they are not considered essential but you can order on-line and then pick up at the store. They have curb side delivery. Call and tell them when you will be there and what kind of vehicle you drive. They poke their head out the door, dash in and get your sack and then bring it to your car, complete with gloves and masks. I, of course, was wearing my washable mask that I made weeks ago but at least I have a couple of jobs to work on. WOOT WOOT!

I know I shouldn't complain because we are both healthy but for me this is too much down time. Even with cleaning extra and now my outdoor gardening, I just have too much time on my hands and that is never a good thing for me. Arghhh!

So we went up by 66 in the Tri County area again today. 491 in the Tri County and a man in his 70's died at St Francis on the 15th and another gentleman in his 80's died in a nursing home on the 18th. We now have had 8 deaths in Hall County. Not sure I can take much more of this. Yikes.

More good news! Hundreds of thousands people have been infected with the virus in LA county!
But, they didn't even know it!
Testing shows hundreds of thousands in LA County may have been infected with coronavirus

So, death rate at common flu level it appears.
More like this will be coming in, as they do the testing in the millions this week.
I'd be thrilled to find out I had COVID-19 and didn't know it.

This is NOT good news in any way shape or form. We are just beginning to find out the myriad effects COVID-19 is having on otherwise healthy people, other than the obvious of mortality.

I get it that you're Johnny Sunshine Pumper and you desperately want your "guy" to shine and for Football to happen in the fall but there is NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING good about anyone having COVID-19. Get a grip, NWH.

We had 3 more deaths in CNHD yesterday. I'm appalled at your comment. Totally and completely appalled.
