Coaches reached out to.

Whether that is a true statement or not by their AD, he was always going to answer it that way. Make no sense to say he has been contacted. Only creates more drama/distraction around his FB team.

Patterson and Briles wouldn't come to Nebraska. Why would they? If they go 9-3 there they get a raise, here they get fired. That's not a slam. That's the flat out truth. Nebraska and the Big 10 isn't a big draw anymore folks. You need to realize that. Frost is the best name NU can do and the sooner people realize that the easier this transition is going to be. Otherwise, NU is looking at a mid-major coach.

Again, one insider's info and for all we know the reach outs could have happened a day or a week or 2 weeks ago. Guessing SE would have also asked Alvarez for any names he might recommend or know as well. Doubt this list is all considered.

Yeah I dont understand the Briles one. Talk about NO DEFENSE......But he does seem to know offense.

You could have said that about Bo and offense in 2007. Difference is Briles has experience with Head Coaching and recruiting top shelf talent in a highly competitive talent landscape.

Actually, 9-3 with no championships will get you seven years. 9-3 and a .500 record against teams with a winning record might get a coach the key to the city. But I agree with you on Patterson and Briles. Why leave a program where you don't have to leave your own state to recruit? Unless Nebraska is ready to pay $6 mill a year I don't see why a current successful HC would leave California, Texas, or Florida. They have it made at most programs in these states. Frost is most likely our best option at a coach who can actually outcoach our competition and will stick around for the long haul. Well worth the investment, imo.

Tressel is our only chance at a wow guy in the ranks of a Urban, Saban, Stoops, etc. Maybe not quite in that company but he is NC caliber. Everyone else even mentioned is a hope and a prayer with a TBD tag! This begs the question...did we improve our position? We are NEBRASKA and SE says we have the resources to make the necessary hire. Please don't settle for a grooming project!!! Our program is on the brink of losing its identity and we are one bad hire from becoming a has been! Please wow the national media, the 18 year old recruits and the fan base to revive our hopes of once again becoming a top 5-10 team. We need life injected back, like Urban did to tOSU and Charlie is doing at Texass.

If we go this suggested route, then I stamp Frost simply because of his ties to NU. His understanding of what we use to be and what we want to become again would be helpful.

If SE is going to hire a coach with High integrity as he mentioned, then there's no way Tressel is the hire. If so then I'd like to know SEs definition of High Integrity. We hire Tressel we'll probably be on probation within 3 years.

Tressell would have been a consideration except that he has two infractions, Youngstown and OSU. That is automatic elemination in my book. Briles and Patterson are in the hunt for a play off spot now, why would they leave that for hard work in Lincoln and how many years? Dont think so. Mullen? maybe, Freeze? Maybe. More likely one from Utah, but I doubt it. I just dont see someone in the top 10 at this moment. Riecht could be a decent choice from Georgia. Rod Carey at NIU would be a nice choice.

I'll be honest. Even without the extra baggage I thought Tressel was too conservative as a head coach (on the field). I'd like someone with a little more edge. He's also been out of coaching for a while. And he's tarnished. Who's to say if he still has what it takes? I'm not so sure he's the home run he would have been 5 years ago. JMHO

If you are looking for high integrity as mentioned then go with Gill or Ron Brown. I just think we need that wow guy! Why does a top 5 team in all time wins need to settle for anyone, remember SE also says we have the resources.

I agree with Gill as well. Very High integrity and experienced HC. Also Frost is high integrity and stresses academics. And it's not me looking for a High integrity guy, that the biggest stipulation that SE laid out. That being said, that would rule out Tressel first and foremost.

Thought I would pass on this info. Not sure how accurate my info is though. Apparently 2 assistants so far have been retained as you know CW is on the recruiting trail.

So wouldn't that mean that a head coach has been hired since the head coach chooses the assistant coaches?

Yes. I believe Beaverball has said there is someone hired, just don't know who. If not hired will be hired. Have no clue who though. Man this new AD doesn't let very many things out.

No, he doesn't, and it makes it pretty difficult to get anything specific from credible sources in and around the program itself.

Yeah hopefully there is a press Conference tomorrow then. Why wait if you have someone hired?
