Riley would be an upgrade from Frost. And probably a safer hire than MJ.

I just agreed it would be an upgrade over Frost and MJ. (Although MJ is VERY close)
We don’t know what MJ can do. He can’t fire everyone during the season he is stuck with frost’s choices.
That’s all true, but conversely, we don’t know what he CAN do because he has nothing in his coaching past to point at that’s comparable to being the HC (or even coordinator) for a once dominant P5 school that has been mediocre for a decade.
Agree but to compare him with frost and MR is not fair to him and what he could do or not do. Assistants matter more then head coach in my opinion.
My original comment would be that MR would be a safer hire. Of course, MJ could get the job and exceed expectations.
As for high quality assistants, which sounds like a better recipe for success?
1. Surrounding a novice coach with some upside with great assistants; or
2. Surrounding an experienced head coach with proven team-building skills with the same great assistants.
If TA does his due diligence and decides that MJ is the guy, then fine. But to “settle” for MJ when more proven coaches could’ve been selected is a bad move. Unfortunately, if MJ is the coach, we likely will not hear the details about how he was selected and who else was interested but passed over.
But we dont, and probably never will, know who was available. Just because we on the board are excited about a certain coach doesnt mean he is available. Even if he isnt coaching doesnt mean he's available. And even if they are they have to be interested in coming here. The only current coach we know is available and interested at this point is Mickey. Unless someone else comes out and says they are interested we wont ever know.
Take Matt Rhule for example. We have all these rumors going around about him, but has he ever publicly said he is interested? Has any big time sports reporter ask him? Why not?
I am quite certain there are many coaches that will step up for the job at DONU. TA has a search firm doing the search so IM sure there are takers.
I have a reliable source that tells me Urb was begging Trev for the job in October... Nebraska was his dream job yada yada yada ... and Trev told him no thanks, you're like a traveling Karshadian. Trev told him there's bigger fish in the pond to fry. TA has something up his sleeve. While the rest of us are playing checkers he's performing the Grunfeld Defence.

My thoughts are if Trev makes an announcement before the end of the season, it will be Mickey. Why mess with the team psyche when preparing for their last game? Not fair to the players. After the last game, who really knows? 
I cannot stand his sh1t music , so i think I would not like him as HC
