Coaches Pool

Barber's are well known to be more reliable sources than Cable TV installation guys. Sounds like it is Urbie.

Michigan's Assoc. HC Bill Poggi just got hired as the Charleston(?) 49ers coach. His resume is pretty impressive as a perennial HC at HS(s) he's coached. A gazillion State Championships.

Might of had something to do with why UM's Defense is darn good. Not sure.

is it a P5 school?

I was joking....

I really care less where potential great coaches come from; if he can swing a mean toilet plunger and still get out of his FB players what is required. Guy has at least 15 State Championships to his credit.

Plus, EVERY coach didn't earn their stripes for the 1st time as a HC at a major P5 school let alone a mid-level Conference.. except Jeff Saturday.

One thing I can say for Deion - he recognized a big problem (inability to properly use the toilets in the locker room) @ JSU and took action. Catch phrases heard from Coach Prime: "If it's brown flush it down", "Don't piss on my locker room floor and tell me it's raining" and of course "Do a 2 you know what to do"

If we had a winning tradition for the last 25 years I woiuld agree but the last two hires were anything but stellar and if you say they were, you are intellectually bankrupt, If this program is not on its death bed its damned close. TA should take the very best available, not gamble with this one.

I don't know if it will be Urban Myer or not. What I do know is whoever it finally is, we need to tamp our expectations. This football team is NOT very good and the overall talent level seems to be sub par. I wish it was just a matter of a coaching change, etc. But anyone expecting a one or two year turn around is going to probably be largely disappointed. It could happen, but certainly not likely without a huge infusion of talent.

One assignment. No more fake 4 stars.
We have and have had supposed 4 star guys who have no or only 1 or 2 other P5 offers. Here is how a recruiting expert explained stars.
5-sure fire pro prospect, All-American level player.
4-All conference level
3- project as starter level
2- project as contributor
1- Take your studies seriously.

Some of these services are entirely too generous with these stars. Logan Smothers is an all conference caliber? He barely had any other P5 offers. A great majority of players should be 2 and 3 stars. Basically, anyone we sign is 3 star. That sounds like bs put out by recruiting services to pique the interest of the general public.

We need a staff that recognizes true talent.

Hiring an under achiever wont get back on the road to success. We absolutely have to hit on this next coach.

The problem is, no matter who Trev hires, it is a gamble. Nothing is guaranteed.

That’s failing to consider that not all gambling is equal. Doubling down on an 11 is a risk, but has a good chance of paying off. Doubling down on a hard 18 is also a gamble that can pay off, but generally blows up in your face.

So we're discussing the semantics of gambling?
