Bo is gone

I will go on record as saying this was a mistake. I think NU made a mistake today. Any announcement on when the presser is going to be? ESPN said later today but that really isnt a time...LOL

Doesnt sound like the players are real happy about this either. Tommy Armstrong just had a tweet about this being the biggest mistake NU has made.
Next ESPN insiders says to look for NU to look for offensive minded coach and that Scott Frost is probably the most likely choice and that it will be hard for NU to get an established coach, with the way it is hard to recruit here, win here, and the expectations of the fans.

This ^^^ is quite frankly demeaning and insuting to most Nebraska fans. Our "expectations" are: 1) not to get blown out repeatedly by ranked teams on national television, 2) to go into games where we look like we have practiced and prepared for our opponent, and 3) be able to compete with, and beat at least 50% of time, the best.

To that end, Nebraska under Bo, after seven years, could not do any of those things.

I didnt say it was the "Bo -haters"fault it happened but this is exactly what you wanted so enjoy the consequences.Especially in the next few years when we are in need of a new running back.

We had a Heisman candidate at running back this year and we barely finished 3rd in the worse division in the Power 5 conferences.

We will get through this and overcome. We have a chance at having a nationally relevant program again. Let's hope we find the right guy.

"Wrong more than right", huh? Fine. feel free to submit your own thoughts and analyses for everyone's consideration and critique.

It will be hilarious reading how players bear no responsibility for their play, or how execution isn't absolutely critical to success.

I'll always support this program. I've been doing so my entire life. I'll support the new staff.

I doubt you will, if the sledding gets tough, since you seem to think a 67-26 was so unbearable.

Solly it wasn't the number of loses but how we lost them that got most people's goat.

Bo was 66-27 overall but 15 of those loses were by double digits. 35, 34, 21, 12*, 31, 28, 17, 25, 39, 14, 20, 11, 13, 21, 35.

*to a team we beat by 35 earlier that season.

The AD better have a short list already and make a hire ASAP. I hope to hell this wont be another Pedersen coaching search

I find it hilarious that some of you have hope that that's going to happen...

Since he took over in 2008, he is tied for sixth in winning percentage with LSU’s Les Miles (and Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio. Only Nick Saban (83-10), Chris Petersen (77-14), Bob Stoops (72-15), Urban Meyer (69-10) and Gary Patterson (68-20) have better records.

So, which of these guys do you see boarding a plane for Lincoln anytime soon?

1 PM, after the NFL kicks off, in order to minimize national coverage.

Come on Mark, you know perfectly well it wasn't the win percentage. The win percentage was good. It was the blowout losses, getting utterly waxed on national television repeatedly which precipitated this move. And while the players bear responsibility for their play, the head coach bears the responsibility for how they play. I said it earlier in this thread, I take no joy in Bo being fired because I truly wanted him to succeed. But what was done, whether it works out for us or not, had to be done.

12, 11, 14, 13??? Those are blowouts??? Come on anything less then 20 isnt a blowout.

If Solly's source is correct that we don't have a replacement waiting in the wings, we are totally ****ed. I know I flipped out after the Wisconsin beat down, but I really think even if ADSE decided to do this he should have waited until next season. BYU has an O that's been our (and almost everyone else's) kryptonite, Miami will be tough, and there's the B1G slate. That would be a good reason to fire somebody. Next year I'll be happy to just make a bowl (ok, not happy, but relieved). Firing a coach who just got to 9 wins again is insane, though. Fire him last year, fire him next year, but this was the worst possible time from a business standpoint.

Of course Harvey Perlman supports the decision - he made it, and wanted it since Osborne left.

By all accounts, there is no short list, and NU is once again flat-footed, starting the search today.

At least 3 recruits are gone, with several more departures ranging anywhere from very possible to almost certain. Count on a few transfers, as well.

We'll see how far this sets the program back, because it most certainly will.

Wait...after come just short of firing him last year, rumors of ultimatums to be met for this season, and you say ADSE has no short list? How is that possible? I find that hard to believe. Either you aren't privy to the fact there is a short list, or ADSE is incompetent and didn't use this entire year making a contingency plan if Bo didn't meet his expectations again.

Fair enough. Husker football is in my blood just like most. I'll be here after our 5 and 6 season next year and every year after. Id love more than anything to figure out how to not care and therefor not hurt over the program but UNL is a part of me too. I just 100% feel it was amateur hour with Bo and live my life with a "If you are not happy, fix it," attitude. So I'm on board with this. I'll admit. Sometimes it doesn't work but I've never been too scared of outcomes to settle.

Tressell isnt coming, he is a college President. Mc Elwain has a 7.5 million dollar buyout, he aint coming. Scott Frost has more experience at the college level than Malzohn but he is in the NC game hunt. Unlikely.

When style trumps substance, a program is lost.

Nebraska has been here before, and its "leadership" should have known better.

I supported the Bo hiring and just like someone else mentioned it was over for me following the Wisconsin game this year. And people need to realize that Bo brought some of this on himself besides the bad national tv losses. His sideline tirades on players, coaches and officials didn't help. His stubbornness to get rid of assistant coaches didn't help. His comments on the audio tape didn't help. And I know all coaches have their faults but Bo's actions speak for themselves.

I didn't say that they were blow outs so quit trying to make up stuff that isn't there, but here is another stat for y'all, Bo's record vs teams with a winning record at the end of the season 26-25, record against losing teams 40-2.
