Bo is gone

I supported the Bo hiring and just like someone else mentioned it was over for me following the Wisconsin game this year. And people need to realize that Bo brought some of this on himself besides the bad national tv losses. His sideline tirades on players, coaches and officials didn't help. His stubbornness to get rid of assistant coaches didn't help. His comments on the audio tape didn't help. And I know all coaches have their faults but Bo's actions speak for themselves.

Thumbs up, this is not a conspiracy as some contend, its a business and the job isnt getting done in the fashion that an elite schools wants or promotes.

You do realize that the staff was only intact for two consecutive seasons once, right?

His players have already debunked the tired "tirades" complaint, and the audio tape was a malicious and underhanded attack facilitated by someone who lost their job over it, and could have faced civil charges. Bo's comments were directed at a very select portion of the NU fans who were at the game, not the entirety of the fanbase, and that portion deserved far worse than he said. But you know all this already; its just that the realities of these doesn't fit the narrative as well as the hyperbole.

When style trumps substance, a program is lost.

Nebraska has been here before, and its "leadership" should have known better.

I wouldn't call getting taken behind the woodshed by every ranked team we play style.

And come on, this is Bo seventh year. No school in any power five conference would have given Bo seven years based on how the team performed in key conference games where every time they take the field they get waxed.

Like I have said....whoever they get NEEDS TO BE A EXPERIENCED GUY.....I know there is a fair contingent that says Scott Frost but in all truth and fairness he needs to cut his teeth elsewhere and at the expense of some other program....not here....if you look at it honestly you really want a guy who already knows what he is doing and is a great recruiter and can hire great asst. Coaches. I dont want Cotton I dont want Gill and I sure as hell dont want Frost.......the money is available to get a home run type of guy now we will just have to see what the Admin. & A.D. Do with it.....I stated in another post that if Bo was let go I would hope Eichorst had his guy already in his sights.....we will just all have to wait now to see where this ride takes us.....if he is smart he will get a guy who will go out and get with our commits right away and make a huge impact with them. There is alot in the cookie jar so to speak that hinges on who is "The Guy".....

Well my guess is that many of you that wanted Bo gone are the same ones that called for Franks head. I am on record of saying this is a mistake and if wrong will say so. (I hope I am). If we get another BC will all of you calling for Bos head admit a mistake was made today?? Doubt it. You will blame ADSE and call for another coaching change. But you wont blame yourselves at all. And yes it is partly the fan base continually calling for a coaching change that is at fault here.

Does not change the fact that these events happened.
And what coaches did Bo get rid of? Changes only occurred when a coach went to another job.

$11 million for the buyout, though if Pelini finds another coaching gig, (He'll have dozens of choices, college and pro), that price tag comes down by one year's salary.

Established coach and staff? Figure around $5 million for the HC and another $3-4 million for the staff.

I love the way everyone is just sure that 1) NU has the money, and 2) They'll actually SPEND the money.

The reality is not so cut-and-dried.

This is where we agree. It's easy for us message boarders to spend other peoples millions.

My bet is he finds a job a hell of a lot faster then we find a new coach.

Do you actually believe these coaches just decided to take other gigs, often lateral moves? Did you forget about Marvin Sanders' ouster?

You can do your own search for the changes; it'll take about 5 minutes on NU's website. Of all the coaches who left, none left without "encouragement", including Carl Pelini.

Bo just facilitated as soft a landing for them as he could, because the coaching wheel never stops turning.

It's rolling over NU right now, as a matter of fact.

What is wrong with Gill? He did a really good job at Buffalo. Gave them their first ever back to back winning seasons. And he was NEVER given a chance at KU so dont bring that argument up. He knows how to recruit to NU and knows our traditions and the expectations of the fanbase. Not saying he is coming or that we should pursue him just dont understand the problem you have with him.

No Gill. Research what was going on with the KU players. I thank him for what he did while a player, but leave it at that.

ADSE, mostly definitely has a coach or 2 on his list. NO WAY they do this without it!!!!

There is a difference between a "wish list", and a list of qualified candidates who are actually interested in the job. There might be one of the former, but not the latter.

No one has been vetted. No one has been contacted (prior to yesterday, anyway).

To all the people wringing their hands and saying how terrible this is..

1. College footbal is big business and the stakes are enormous. We were paying a coach over three million a year and he clearly was not getting the job done.

2. We had Ameer and Gregory, arguably the two best players in the conference and among the elite in the nation. And we couldn't even win the west division with a pretty weak schedule.

3. We were not progressing. Bo had NU on a plateau that we could not climb off of to ascend higher.

4. This challenge will bring new opportunities. Embrace the new opportunities.

Guess I'm not as familiar with coaching searches, how often are coaches talked to before the position is even open?
