My issues with the statement is why couldn't Moos tell Miles or release the statement immediately after the game? Letting Miles and his staff, including wives on the bus, twist in the wind is not a professional move in my opinion. Right now I'm afraid Moos (or the search firm) has hit a dead end in potential candidates. And maybe the reason for him to head to California to watch his son play was also to meet with someone about the job. Whether it be the candidate himself, candidates agent or search firm people.
I have to disagree strongly with you view on this.
Leave him twisting? The season is not over. Why fire a coach now? Let him make the most of the tournaments.
Again - Moos has always said he doesn't fire people during the season (at least under "normal" circumstances).
If we get through selection Sunday with no NIT invite - you'll hear soon. If they get an invite, then if there is an announcement, it will be after that.
Might Moos and Miles already have discussed "the decision"? Maybe? Who knows...
Fans want to know... we can wait. It's not our future on the line.
I'd be a little careful about taking this at face value. Bill strikes me as a straight shooter who's not going to engage in dikish behavior. Keep in mind that some people -- including some in the media -- have a vested interest in making Miles a victim. One of the newspaper articles made it sound like things were a little uncomfortable during that 30 minute time frame.

I agree with what you are saying but I'm talking about the 30 minutes between where the players and coaches had to wait for the announcement. At least tell Miles or have executive associate athletic director Marc Boehm tell him, "I'm following what I said earlier and am waiting for the season to end to make a decision." One of the newspaper articles made it sound like things were a little uncomfortable during that 30 minute time frame. I have no issue with Moos going to California to see his kid participate in that spring game but at least be professional enough to have your statement ready to go and let the person involved know what's the decision.
Is it possible Moos giving a statement 45 minutes after the game was news to him? Miles may have fabricated this story to put Moos on the spot, especially since they played fairly well in the tournament with limited players. Why he had to say anything there I'll never know. Something drove the need to do it.

Still, this information which actually wasn't information couldn't have been delivered at games end or shortly after? If I was a player I would prefer to not have to comment about my current coaches future. But that's what was happening during that time? It created a slight media buzz when if this is delivered in a timely fashion it ends that. Also, if it was delivered in timely manner we wouldn't be discussing it.
The overseer of 15 years of poor to mostly mediocre basketball? Was at a wedding reception last night and there was a guy there who looked just like him. I was close to him and said Marc a couple times but this guy never turned around so I figured it wasn't him.Surprised that nobody has mentioned that this could affect Marc Boehm as well.
Maybe, or maybe he was just too embarrassed to turn aroundThe overseer of 15 years of poor to mostly mediocre basketball?
