AM2 should he stay or will he go?

I've had more than my fair share of "DAMMIT MARTINEZ!" moments. But, realistic or not, there's a sappy spot in my Husker heart that would like to see both him and Frost have a breakout season together next year.
Seriously, I think that is what everyone would prefer. It's just that a lot of people are now questioning whether or not that is realistic.

2x same labrum? I assume he wants to use that arm from time to time for the rest of his life. Maybe sleep at nite.

Playing fb may have to take a back seat.

I think that's what Slauson was alluding to...
Could be he is looking at a year to heal and might just retire from football.....we shall see.

He also owns almost every offensive (pun?) record at Nebraska that a QB can hold. Besides just the principle of family that Nebraska has been built upon how do you think that is going to look to outsiders if we slammed the door on him? Especially with the fact that his opportunities may be limited with him coming off an injury. Again Frost doesn't need to promise him anything other than the chance to COMPETE for the QB spot next year. It is the right thing to do...
3 and 9 and we want to do the right thing? The right thing is to give the fans a 9 and 3 season. We pay the bills in case you missed it. With his record turnovers he should not be anywhere close to all those OFFENSIVE (sic) records.

I was assuming AM was waiting to talk with the new OC before making a decision. Now I don't know.
In his defense (once again) add up 4 years of anybody else's QB and RB's fumbles and see what you get. Because he was not only our QB, he was our featured back. No other QB in the Power 5 had the ball in his hand as much as Adrian.
Yes and that alone is the problem and a coach that lets it happen.

You nailed it, Linving.

Ironically, I believe Adrian's lack of field vision has been exacerbated by a poor OL --- and our OL struggles have been exacerbated by Adrian's indecisiveness.
This post pretty much sums up most of my feelings about AM's play. The big question for me was........Was AM's indecisiveness, and lack of field vision, innate or coaching created. If the latter, I feel sorry for him. I truly feel he gave everything for the team.

OMG, he is a player, not a god. He simply is not that good. Yes he has tons of stats but the one that counts escapes him, W. He does not see the field. He does not read defenses and he is as Frost says, a slow blinker. He will never be mistaken for Tom Brady or Aaron Rogers or Baker Mayfield. He is a good guy no doubt, but not a great QB.

For me the question will remain.........how much did circumstance (ie coaching, O-line, overuse/injury, and pressure) contribute to his ineffectiveness. Without the input of a new qb coach, a new head coach, and a new O-line coach while he played, the answer will remain unanswered.

The thing that boggled my mind is that I saw zero improvement in AM's ability to read his defensive coverage and pick up open receivers from Frosh to Soph, from Soph to Junior, and from Junior to Senior. And over these past four years, he had a dedicated QB COACH!

I don't get it -- Adrian is a smart guy. Reading coverages and going through your progressions isn't rocket science.

In the Minnesota game he had a shot a Tourec who had a step on his defender and looked away for 3 seconds and then got sacked per OMW...He had tons of time to throw the ball but did not. I do not put it all on him but he has never been a long passer even as a frosh. I do think if he had a better line or better line play he might be better but in our current configuration it has not been good. He is also injured alot and that would not change under the new guy, because the new guy is going to see eye to eye with Frost and that means 75 percent of the time AM would be running on the play, look at Smothers last week and how many carries he has. The really big problem is Frost and that is not changing, I agree.

Are you saying he isn't Elon Musk?

I'm having a hard time finalizing where the blame should go, but Dr Fumble pretty much summed up my feelings. For whatever reason AM didn't have the vision ,and the ability to act on that vision, throughout his tenure here.

I only half jokingly said that Haarberg might have the highest ceiling in the qb room if only because he was recruited without Mario and Scott claiming they hadn't had a chance to fully evaluate his ability to throw.

I'm throwing most of the blame on coaching and less on AM2. Plus, as pointed out, it's gotta be hard to run with a broken jaw, screwed up ankle and whatever else ails AM2. The O-line being a little soft (again, coaching I think) would also be a hindrance. I'm thinking with different coaches, we would have seen an entirely different product this year and a lot more wins.

I just really hate to bag on the players and in this case I think the majority of the blame lands at the feet of the coaches.

Smothers looks pretty good, just have to quit calling on number 8 to carry the ball. I have no faith that Frost will change his system to accomodate our demands.

They got him banged up for sure. But his vision is terrible so they should have replaced him with Smothers last year instead of Mc Caffrey
