I've read nothing about Smothers anywhere. Not even a whiff of anything.
He is not durable, but a HC that doesnt run him 22 or 25 times a gameI share some of your sentiment; but I differ in that I think Martinez's negatives are a direct reflection on the coaching he received. That's why I'd love to see him transfer somewhere and have a banner season.
Having said all that, there's a part of me that think the new QB coach might be able to coach some of Verduzco's crap out of him and turn him back into a QB. And if that is going to happen, I'd be fine with AM2 taking part in it.
It is a conundrum.

Those are far different than what is being said about Rattler, like him handling getting benched very poorly (which I don’t know for sure is even true).
What QBs might transfer here depends entirely on the OC hire (and possibly assistants). I don't think Frost can get anyone to come here on his own at this point (a highly regarded QB xfer to be specific). But OC promising playing time - certainly could.
Adrian needs to come back…He is an asset to to the team. On another note, for all the railing we do on the kid about decision making in games the one thing that needs to be noted is the kids character. AM seems like a fine young man and I wish him success in whatever he decides to do.

Found it. A torn labrum in his right throwing shoulder. He had the same injury in high school, FWIW.

I have many issues with Martinez - and I'm ready to move on. But durability is NOT one of his shortcomings. Getting mauled and beaten up every game because of our poor o-line left him with a lot of injuries. And yet he was out there playing and not complaining.

OP's question may be moot. He may come back and be a record 5 yr Capt., but accept a diminished role.
We are going to have to disagree. Frost has played that guy how many games injured? Should he have played with a broken jaw? Injured legs? Injured shoulders? I think not. Was his play hampered by injury, the Minnesota game was the poster child for playing while injured and we got hammered. When he couldn't run in the Minnesota game he was a sitting duck given the poor line play.
I do not fault him for playing, I fault Frost for playing him like I faulted Bo for doing it to the other Martinez. Both guys were playing when they could barely walk.
I would love that, as would most I'm thinking. You're most welcome for the info. Didn't post it as I figured, incorrectly, that it was already common knowledge.
We're actually agreeing - absolutely it's the coaches' fault for not having better-developed options to play. If by durability you're saying that he should have been able to take the battering he did and remain injury free, then we'd disagree. But I doubt there's hardly a player in the game that could get stomped like he did and still be ready to go out there. The kid was a wing-and-a-prayer player. That does not make him a great QB nor absolve the coaches for our plight.
