Alberts to A&M?!?!?!

Starting to think, with no real evidence to point to, that we have a problem at the Regent level here. Everyone is bailing and the only ones that are the same are the Regents.
Peed and Hawk- you need the support of one or the other to be a regent. It's not written in stone, but it kinda is.
If either of these two want something done, it gets done. ..and nothing gets done without their approval.
Peed is the force behind Hurrdat, so I'm curious what the media spin will be about this kerfuffle.

John Cook would end up giving up the HC job if he ended up as AD. It would be way more on his plate than he'd want to fully devote to to give up the VB team.

I believe that he loves the coaching enough that he'd decline if offered. Plus, for we fans that would be like kicking us when we're down to ALSO losing the nation's best VB coach on top of our current AD?

No thank you Paul Harvey.

As mentioned before - this is set-up for a President and AD that are going to take the "Rhule is not MY guy" approach to the football team. I can tell you right now Rhule is gone as soon as he gets a sniff of that situation and I don't blame him. He can find another job anytime he wants.

What a complete #hitshow our Regents are making of athletics yet again.

We have a long standing “tradition” of Regents being way to involved with UNL athletics and believing they know what’s best. It’s been very problematic and doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon!!

I'm absolutely flabbergasted by this news. Talk all you want about big money offers, more often than not, a new job is as much about LEAVING your current job as it is taking on a new one. Something is going on.

If you ask me, it's ANYBODY who has the Matt Rhule seal of approval.
One thing I thought I would never see. Shake my damn head!

What kills me is how lots of former players stumped for Trev to get the job, and now he gives everyone the middle finger. I know there are issues with the regents as a University President should've been in place by the time Ted Carter left. That just screams there's a bad atmosphere within the University system for a former player like Trev to up and bolt. He's going to be under way more politics in Texas than here but don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

Guessing Trev got a matching offer from Nebraska so there might be a bidding war in progress.

Still doesn't fix the other problems that make Trev consider another AD job. Whose electing these Regents???

I don't see it that way at all. This can happen if you truly care about a place and are willing to 'lay it all on the line' because you believe in your heart of hearts that the people above you are making a HUGE mistake.

Trev did the same thing at ESPN once upon a time and got burned. Time will tell if he's overplayed his hand once again. The fact that -- as of the time of this post -- he hasn't excepted the job when it was first reported it was 'a done deal,' gives me some hope.

This is political and anyone can see it a mile away. Trev is over it and it’s either ending now or TA is leaving. Is TA out playing his hand? Possibly. But at some point it has to end and TA reached that point. Next couple hours will be interesting.

I mentioned in another thread that Trev may be making a power play here similar to what he did once upon a time at ESPN. He gambled and lost that time around. But, based on what I've been seeing in Huskerland this past year, Alberts has a STRONG HAND to push this time around. He's essentially saying to the Board of Regents, 'it's my way or I'm outta here.'

My reaction to that? YOU GO TREV! We need you to win this one.

100%. last 20 years we have had regents and other sorts running our athletic program into the ground. TA knows it. He might be the first AD that is actually doing something about it. Go Trev!!!!!!
